(well, considering your excuse for exiting, it would seem a little lame to be like 'oh look, my legs don't hurt! and now I'm bigger and look like a bear!')

After Whispers...interesting initiation into the cult, the energetic canine had found that she had something she could put all of that energy into...other than chasing the random Hopper, that is. She was determined to prove her worth and intelligence to those who were ranked above her. She had come, following Aryas summoning howl...even though she had no idea of what the competition would entail, only that she was going to be as ready as possible for whatever thrown at her.
The childish part of her mind thought: "Maybe it's a spelling test. I'm good at those."
As she neared the area where she knew the competition was to take place, she listened to those around her, to possibly hear a snippet of what exactly was going to happen. The word 'race' flitted around, and Whispers heart lifted. She was quite an agile runner, having run from the day she fell from the tree. She could sprint, and/or run cross-country for great distances, should the occasion call for it. She could only hope it was a race, and not a battle to the death.
She meandered into the area with her head held high, nodding politely to those around her. She didn't know many of the other creatures of The Cult, only Silva, and their meeting had been brief, on the day of Whispers first breath on this world. A soft smile traced her muzzle, and she proceeded to fully enter the clearing where they were located, curiously contemplating who she needed to speak to to enter the race.
She gandered that it would be Apani or Arya, but as she saw that Apani was...occupied with another canine, she strode slowly over to Arya.
"I have come to your summon." she said politely, dipping her head in respect to the leader. "To what occasion to I owe the honor of attending?" she asked softly, having missed the general announcement from Apani. Her tail wagged amiably behind her, one paw lifted eagerly off the ground.

arya was happy to see that at her beckoning, many a cult member had appeared; her own, adored elena (though the feline was talking to her, arya only had enough time to give her a happy smile and a nod), as well as nerah, a canine that was now bear-like, much larger than the others. a dark-pelted canine, silva, also came briefly, but claimed that her leg hurt to much to race (it was too bad for her - it would be a lot of fun!), taking her leave, slinking into the shadows. her partner-in-crime, apani, arrived right after silva left (which was good for silva - she would probably have her ears clawed off by the sandy feline). the final race participant, as arya was anxious to be started, was one of the cult's newest members, whisper.
"the occasion is a race!" arya replied happily. "if you would all go to that tree over there!" she boomed, gesturing to a spindly little oak. they would be racing, she decided, to another tree about fifty yards away, though the canine decided not to announce that - best to keep them on their toes! when everyone was assembled, arya shouted, "on your mark! get set! go!!"
{this means that each digit equals one yard (aka, 8 = 8 yards.)}

Arya spoke, and Nerah's attention shifted to her, her excitement growing. It seemed the race was about to start. She had wanted Silva to be a part of it all, too, but it was best to rest if she wasn't feeling well. Besides, there would be more opportunities to have fun with their new group later. This was only the first of many fun things they would be doing. At least, Nerah hoped so...
The leader gestured to a tree and Nerah's gaze shifted to said plant. She trotted over to the tree and stood, tail wagging and tongue lolling out te side of her mouth. This was going to be so much fun! She glanced back at the others, waiting for them to follow suit. Once they were, and Arya gave the command, she started running.

Whisper's heart fluttered madly with excitement. It was a race, she gave an unintentional sigh of relief to learn that it wasn't some sort of...teeth-gnashing deathmatch, or something akin to that nature. Her tail wagged happily, practically swatting her sides with her enthusiasm. Her tongue lolled out in a happy, canine grin, and for once, both of her ears were erect on top of her headwithout her being in a tense situation, or focused intently on something.
As directed, Whisper trotted happily to the tree, dipping into an excited play-bow, not only to show her eagerness, but also to stretch out her long, slender limbs. She rose to her full height again, and stretched her back legs as well, which was mildly difficult considering her tail was wagging at a blur. She looked and saw Nerah making her way over, remembering her as the canine that had greeted her when she first...unintentionally...arrived. Her pretty canine muzzle was already split in a wide grin, and she dipped her head to Nerah.
"Best of luck!" she yipped, turning her attention onto Arya for the command to go. Once everyone was assembled, Whisper's face turned into a look of complete focus, her ears laid back against her head, and her pupils dilated. She was already crouched and ready to spring into action, and her sinewy muscles quivered eagerly underneath her silky, chocolate pelt.
Arya spoke:
"On your mark..."
Whisper licked her lips eagerly, her eyes set on her desired target. The tree.
"Get set..."
Whisper shifted her feet, getting a good feel for the dirt beneath her claws.
"Go!"
Clods of dirt were thrown up into the air as the high-energy canine's legs sped into action, sending her off in a cloud of dirt-clods and torn grass. The canine was surprisingly agile on her feet, and as her paws thudded against the soil, an exhileration coursed through her that was unmatched by any Hopper hunt she had ever experienced.

A race? Elena mewed with displeasure, ears layed back. What sort of cosmic higher purpose what this? A race was child's play, as distraction for higher thi-- Oooh, another butterfly. Elena, now too thoroughly transfixed by the colorful insect to be displeased, almost missed the race's beginning. It was at the very last minute that she scampered her way to the tree Arya had pointed out and, upon hearing the word 'Go', she, well, went. Not very quickly at first-she was a petite cat, with not-so-long legs-but soon picking up a bit of speed, becoming a little creamy-white blur with two focused blue pins at the front. She ran faster than she had ever had occasion to run before, doing her best to not be trampled by the flying legs of the nearby canines. [[ooc: Ale, it would be really cute if Elena got hurt in the race and Arya nursed her :'3]]

(please keep the OOC-only talk in PMs, if you could. thank you. in case you're still confused, arya will be reacting in order to give you some guideline as to how far your character went, but here are the numbers; Whisper - 2 Nerah - 1 Elena - 9. and yes, that would be cute, Night. :3)
arya watched with a certain intensity as the runners took their marks, and began to speed off towards the second tree she had put as the finish line (though none of the runners knew it). padding over to the finish line with a yawn (for the race was not that interesting - nerah and whisper barely were moving!), arya settled against the tree with a lazy attitude, not wanting to make it obvious that this was the finish line, what all of them were striving for. arya was surprised at the speed that her best friend, elena, was moving at - she was like a bullet! staring in wonderment, arya wondered what else would happen during this race.

Whisper was off to a wonderful start...but...what was this...? One of the cats from the cult was running tantrically amidst the legs of herself, and Nerah. Whisper's eyes were so transfixed on the feline that she did not see the tree limb that was nearing, and within moments...BAM.
The tree limb clotheslined the poor canine, and with a yelp, she flew backwards, her forward momentum slowly turning into backwards momentum, throwing her head over heels into a pile of leaves. As Whisper coughed, trying to regain her breath, her blurry vision witnessed the creamy white of the feline she had been trying to avoid dashing far ahead of her, and Nerah passing her. Darn it! She had had such a good start, too!
Rising back onto shaky feet, she took off again, slowly but surely getting a noselength in front of Nerah. Her throat was sore from the blow of the limb, but she was determined to catch up to that cat, and reach that finish line...even if she finished in last place.

Nerah had bolted, nearly flying over the grass toward the finish line. Things were looking good, and she was confident that she would win. This lasted for about three bounds, at which time one of her legs buckled and, with a yelp, she fell to the ground in a heap.
Nerah stared at her leg after the fall, confused. It was hurting, but it looked all right. She shook it tentatively. It hurt worse, but everything felt like it was still in place. She then attempted to press weight on it. It hurt even worse, but it was bearable. Maybe the pain would go away soon.
Then she remembered she was in a race. She got awkwardly to her feet and started off again. Maybe she still had a chance...

Upon hearing Nerah's yelp, Elena turned her head and looked back, breaking her stride a bit. Oh dear, she thought, look what this silly race has caused! A futile injury! What sort of self respecting cul-
BUTTERFLY!
The butterfly was back, fluttering above Elena's head. She couldn't help but stop and paw at it. Before she knew it, she had lost considerable ground. Was there a point in going on now?
YES. Yes there was. Arya was at the finish line, and that was as good of a reason as any to run run run as fast as her little legs could carry her, even if a race failed to stimulate her intellectual tendencies.
And so she scampered on, regretfully forced to depart from that tantalizing butterfly.

(numbers; Whisper - 2 Nerah – 4 Elena - 7 Tymid, I redid Whisper's number three times, but she was destined to be a two...)
arya could not help but flinch as whisper was clothes lined by a tree branch - she hoped the canine was okay. but, knowing her, it would only sting a bit, and then the pup would be on her way. but elena's speed, still, was shocking, considering the two canines had longer legs, nerah especially so. it seemed like the bear-like creature had hurt her leg - and arya was tempted to go make sure she was alright - but she was at least semi-recovering, as opposed to whisper, who still lagged behind elena by quite a few yards - at least ten. it made arya wonder if there was a side of elena she didn't know about...

The pain was still intense, but Nerah was able to work her way trough it and keep running. She had even sped up and overtaken Whisper...barely. Elena, however, was getting farther and farther ahead. It was likely she would win this thing. Nerah didn't mind. She was having a lot of fun just with the competition and the running. Not with the leg, though. She wondered if it'd be faster to run without it. She wasn't about to try it, though. Not until after the race.
For now, the pain seemed to lesson just the tiniest but. She hoped it'd get better. Maybe it was one of those injuries were walking - or running, in this case - made it all better. She hoped so. She didn't like pain.
