Apani was growing tired of this canine's speeches; she spoke for too long, and with too much passion. If she was to be a good member of the Cult, she would have to learn to harness that passion, and put it into good use for the Cult. Nevertheless, she showed promise; perhaps it was time to show her hand.
She smiled brightly - for once, there was no hint of malice in it. "Well done, Whisper," she murmured, standing far enough away from the canine now for the new member to feel comfortable. She didn't want to crowd her, as she had tried to do by circling her; her 'anger' had disappeared. "You have passed my test with flying colours. You have passion - a good trait for this Cult. You have fire, and loyalty - already, you have seemingly committed your life to the same cause as I, which I find . . ." She searched for the right word. "Touching."
The co-leader nonchalantly licked her paws, calm as a windless sea now. Her acting skills had been required after Whisper had looked torn up after she had attacked Kayalee; the canine had looked sorry for the feline who Apani had driven away. She needed to know if the canine would be loyal - and the best way to do that? To challenge her, to accuse her of lying. The test had come back with positive results; Apani wasn't at all interested in whether Whisper had been plotting, for she knew it couldn't be true - as the canine had shown, she was too naive for such a plan. Apani was interested in the canine's Cult suitability, and she was pleased to get the right answers back from this youth.
"You might ask why I didn't simply question you, without all of this acting trouble - I'm sure you would be truthful," she murmured, still washing her paw as if this were an everyday occurrence. "But I had to see your fire - I couldn't simply ask for that. I had to provoke it, to kindle it; you were provoked and you proved yourself to me. I see great things for you in this Cult, Whisper." And for once, the feline wasn't lying.
Settling herself down and tucking her paws beneath her, the female indicated with her tail towards the cave entrance. "You may leave, if you wish," she mewed, shutting her eyes to try and relax. She had tried this several times today, and every time, she had been interrupted. "There - go and find your friends, Silva and Nerah. It shouldn't be hard; they were quite blatantly eavesdropping from the outside." She wasn't a fool - she had observed, whilst Whisper was making her lecture, the two creatures creeping towards the cave, trying to look innocent.
For now, she had said enough; she would be happy to lie quiet for the rest of the day. It was true that Apani had committed some crimes today - attacking Kayalee was a half-crime, as Kayalee was an intruder. However, she regretted nothing, for regrets didn't make for a long life. Besides, anything she'd done had been counteracted by what she had just said to Whisper - it was extremely nice, especially for her, to pick out someone from the crowd and tell them truthfully that they had potential. She'd lied to creatures before, saying the same words but not meaning the same thing . . . but in Whisper, she saw a bright spark. There was something within her that felt a slight, awkward fondness for Whisper, although she tried desperately to crush it - emotion was definitely a weakness, especially for a member of the army. Somehow, Apani felt quite protective over her - but she could never reveal that. Never.

Silva, now close enough to hear, blushed furiously. Fortunately, the blush was invisible against her jet black fur, though it did nothing to lessen her shame. But she was surprised as well. Maybe I thought wrongly of our leader? she thought to herself. It sounded like it was just a test, with greatly relieved her. Silva had only noticed it in herself recently, but she was fiercely protective over the little ones, and Whisper was a good friend. Giving a shrug to Nerah, she muttered quietly, quiet enough so only Nerah could hear, and facing away from the den, so her lips couldn't be read "Well, we've been caught. I suppose we should fess up then. She looks quite calm, I don't think she'll attack us over this if we admit to it."Holding her head up high, Silva stuck her head in the den, nodded her respect to Apani "I guess we were a bit obvious, but good spotting us anyways"she said, trying to cover her embarrassment with the appearance of nonchalance.

"Eep!" Nerah shrank back when it was made clear Apani knew they were eavesdropping. Well...she hadn't attacked them for it...or Whisper. Also, whisper was fine. Everyone was fine.
Phew...
SIlva spoke to her, and she blinked at her friend. "Fess up? What we did is kinda obvious. She probably knows." Louder, she said. "I guess things are okay. That's a relief." She sat down and scratched behind her ear, but stopped when Silva addressed their leader to give her a respectful bow. "Nothing gets past you! It's only to be expected, huh?"
Nerah smiled at her friend. "I'm a little tired, so I think I'm going home to take a nap. You should bring Whisper by the den sometime. The rest of the pack'll wanna meet her, for sure!" She nuzzled Silva, then gave Whisper a quick lick on the ear and dashed off.
((No offense meant. ^.^; I just don't know what else to do with her here.))

Whisper already had a wince on her face, expecting the worse, but...oh? She opened one eye, then two, to find that she was not dead, or even scathed. She turned around to face Apani, a blank look on her face. As the leader began to explain to her why she had done what she had done, she felt rather embarrassed for her anger, and it showed by the sheepish smile that formed upon her chocolate muzzle. Apani then proceeded to tell her that she could do great things...had potential. To this, Whisper's tail began to sweep the floor of the cave, dusting aside stray leaves with its path.
At the mention of Silva and Nerah, Whisper blanched, almost fearful that Apani would launch into another accusation on how Whisper intended to overthrow the cult by another grand plan; but she did not. Instead she seemed rather placid about it, and went over to lay down. Whisper, as eager as she was to get out of the cave, had lost some of her edge towards the leader, and gained a newfound respect. She did not fear her any less, by any means...but the original impression of 'cold-hearted-killer- had had the sharpness dulled...to an extent.
She dipped her head, and while another long speech was making its way into her brain, as she turned to leave, she turned back one more time to say:
"...Thank you. Enjoy your rest." in a soft, sincere tone, before she galloped out into the clearing, merely happy to taste the fresh air again. She met Nerah and Silva both with warm, grateful nuzzles, walking around in a figure 8 of sorts so that she could get both sides of their faces.
Before she could express her gratitude to Nerah, however, she found that the canine had already bounded off, leaving her and Silva behind.
"Thank you...for being there." she said quietly to Silva, a smile appearing on her face, her one lazy ear having already fallen over to the side in her newfound relaxation. She cocked her head over to where Nerah had run off to, and then looked back at Silva.
"Home...den? I assume she's talking about...what was it...Starpack? The place you mentioned when we first met?"

Elena returned from a hunt, a few speckles of her prey's blood still dappling her muzzle. As soon as she entered the Cult's area, she could smell the newcomers (intruders?) and it made her a bit nervous. Lately, her nightmares had been growing worse: she was hardly sleeping, but was still full of a slow burning energy that never ceased. She never felt fully safe, unless she was with Arya...but at the moment Arya was nowhere to be found.
Perhaps she could find comfort surrounded by members of the cult...even though the only member she really knew was Arya. Perhaps now would be a good time to get to know the rest of them.
She mewed loudly, making her presence known.

Silva nodded to Whisper, a smile crossing over her face as she bent over to nuzzle the younger canine. "Yes, the cult isn't the only group around here. Nerah and I also lead a pack, which is like a small family, called Starpack. Our den is in the Maple Forest, and we in fact claim the forest as our own territory." she paused, glancing around "Anyhoo, I'm really glad that you're safe" she said, nuzzling Whisper. "You make good speeches though. I'd bet in a few days, you'll be higher in rank then Nerah or myself" she chuckled "I don't think Apani likes us too much though, so it's not the greatest of achievements, but still pretty cool~"

arya was there - oh, she was there. the others seemed to discredit the idea of an auburn and white canine being able to fade into the shadows with the same air of grace and power as a pitch-colored feline, but she did it with an ease that she did not know was possible. and as she lurked, arya heard things she shouldn't have heard - things that the speakers hadn't intended for their leader to hear, most likely. including certain comments, that, if looked at in the right light, were almost treasonous.
letting her body peel forth from the shadows, arya walked towards the newcomer (her name was murmur or something like that) and silva, her eyes narrowed slightly as her brow dipped down. "what is this i hear about another pack?" arya said icily. "we do not, will not, and will never allow that you discuss other packs on cult land."

Stepping smoothly to Arya's side, Elena said icily, "And I believe, folks, that what Arya says, goes around here." She looked affectionately up at Arya. She didn't mind falling slightly out of favor with the lower members of the cult or being called Arya's 'pet' if it meant she could help her beloved.
Squaring her chest, she continued to speak (very much in Serious Cat Mode): "I believe when it comes to pack loyalties, one must choose a single group, otherwise conflict of interest will become evident. I, for example, know of these other packs but have no interest in them. I have been accepted here, so here I will stay."

Silva blinked, one ear twitching slightly "What are you talking about? Starpack is a family to us, it's not an army or something" The group of four members had been together since the moment of their birth, doing nearly everything together. The name 'Starpack' was interchangeable with family as far as Silva was concerned. And why was Arya getting so worked up about. Plus the little one, the pup started talking down to Silva as if their roles as adult and pup were reversed. Silva's hackled raised, momentarily, over her lip, before she brought it down, replying diplomatically "My apologies Arya, but I'm not going to censor what I say about my family for any reason. and Pup, this isn't a pack, it's a group. Huge difference."

arya's onyx orbs narrowed even further as she looked at silva, the black eyes like chips of ice as her lips slowly, articulately, formed her words. "i am telling you not to say that word around here. in fact, i am not even telling, but requesting that you not use any word that represents another affiliation - even if it is like your family. i could be a lot more strict about these things. if i wanted you to be, you would be dead by now." her lips were pulling back to reveal her ivory daggers. "and i will not, i repeat not! be spoken to in that way. you'd better be careful, amber." arya had just spoken to a creature in a way she never imagined she would speak to one. and, she had demoted one of her members to an amber two-star. ah well, silva would learn respect.

Of course, Silva wasn't exactly a quick learner. She raised an eyebrow, striding up to Arya and standing at her full height. As an (Uhm, I'm not sure if she's occult or absonding. She was occult up until two days ago, so I'm not sure how the whole time thingies goes. I'm rping with her as Absonding, as that's what she is now, though ^^) "And I said, I'm not going to take you treating my family like a military organization. You can demote me all you want, kick me out of the pack, and even attempt to lay a scratch on me before I -eat- you, but you will -never- forbid me from speaking of my loved ones." she didn't know where these feelings were bubbling form...this hate she had never felt before in her life before joining this Cult, but suddenly, all the frustration she had at this corrupt system was pushing her over the edge, and when Silva was angry, she got -angry- "And you addressed me wrong, idiot. I'm not an amber, as I'm not even in this Cult anymore" Silva spat at Arya's paws, her own claws digging deep gouges in the earth. Staring at Arya with her eyes narrowed menacingly, Silva casually turned and began sauntering towards to border "And if I see you in my pack's border, that is where me and my pack live, I will personally make sure you regret it" before moving on, fury bubbling in her veins.

[[ooc: Woo, fight! ]] Elena yowled with indignation at her beloved Arya being treated with such disrespect. "Ex cuse me?" she screeched after Silva, "Don't you dare talk to her that way! If you wish to leave, it will be with the express permission of our two leaders. Besides, all cult business aside, Arya is my dearest friend, and it will not stand with me to have a friend spoken to that way, much less spat at! You are a coward if you walk away from us, Silva. A fickle coward." Elena had never, ever spoken to anyone this way, and truthfully it made her feel strange, as if her skin was crawling. Nevertheless, she would not stand silent when her best (and really, only) friend was being spoken to with such blatant disrespect.
