but satisfaction brought him back
the feline was padding through the forest, with no particular thing to do on his mind (though the bright orange tail plumage of the birds that resided in the trees was tempting). as he stalked through the large grove of trees, he could not help but think how fantastic it would be to climb one of them. not even thinking further than that, nixen sprang upwards, his muscles bunching before launching him towards the nearest tree.
at first, all nixen's claws did was tear gouges on the tree as he slipped, but the male was able to regain his bearings, and soon skittered up the rest of the bare trunk, finally coming to rest at the base of a branch, which nixen latched onto. the magenta-orbed feline strutted along the branch, and by the time he heard the crack when he got to the very end, it was too late.
curiosity was about to kill the cat.

With a freshly cleaned pelt, Oggie darling was ready for an adventure. An adventure to find others. He had discovered someone in the Orchard of his birth, though at that time he was sticky and covered in leaves, and he had discovered the ladies of the Cult, but those were very few creatures in a very large world. Of course there were the small tree-rodents, and the large orange birds, but whenever he stopped too say hello, they would flee. Was he really that scary? Did they just not like him? It caused a frown to streak the golden boy's face.
In his loneliness, Ognian didn't quite hear the snapping of a branch above. He didn't notice the claw marks in the tree beside him, and it took him a while to notice the lack of birds and sugar gliders. When he did, he stopped, staring at the world around him curiously. Head would tip slightly to the side in question, and the only thought to cross his mind would be that of being alone. He really was hated here, wasn't he? The birds and rodents finally all teamed together and fled, leaving the newly born canine to wallow in the despair of loneliness.
The branch hit the boy first, a yelp ripping from his throat in surprise and pain, and Oggie hit the ground. The second weight didn't hit as hard; it was fluffy, but it was still enough to drag enough pain-produced sound from his throat. Were they rebelling against him? Were they trying to kill him? Those were the only possible thoughts that could be found in Ognian's mind. He was so hated in these woods that the birds and the tree-rodents all got together and decided to crush him to death. So pleasant, was it not? A whine was given in response to the idea, rather than the pain still resting on his spine and ribs.

nixen's eyes were squeezed shut as he plumetted through the air, to the ground, which was about ten feet below him. he squeezed his eyes shut, ready to die young (he totally forgot that felines always land on their feet). when nixen landed, he could only be happy that he was not, in fact, dead. he landed on something that was fluffy, and soft. and awfully noisy! nixen scrambled to the side, wanting to see the ground that had saved him, only to find that it was not ground, but a xanine!
gasping, nixen began to let out a stream of apologies. "i'm sorry, i'm so so sorry! i didn't mean to land on you, i really didn't! i mean, i didn't even know i was going to fall, otherwise i would have made sure not to land on you! are you hurt? oh, i hope you're not dead..." nixen said, leaning in towards the dog, hoping that he hadn't killed this canine! his lips pursed, and his red-violet eyes filled with worry, and the beginnings of a tear forming in his damp eyes. what if he was a murderer!?
