it was with a deep affection that arya regarded her best friend - an affection that arya felt was beyond the friendship that they shared. it was not that long ago that the two met, but as soon as the feline had stopped being so obnoxious about the life of a mouse, the two began to bond more quickly then the canine thought possible. but elena, that little cream vixen... she was arya's everything. in arya's list of things she loved in her life, lena was at the very top, even before the cult, which had been arya's obsession since right after she had met apani and the two had created the guild of sorts.
it was an occurrence in the female's head that perhaps elena didn't share the same sort of affection (for it was a realization that this was more than friendship - it was love) for her. in order to kiss up to the feline, arya decided to bring back older memories - though not that much older, as both she and the little feline were nearly newborns - of their first meeting. arya had caught elena a snake, in replacement of a rat she had been trying to stomach. arya would catch more snakes.
snakes seemed to be aplenty in the blue plains, and that made arya very happy, as she planned to give her lover a full array of the slithering creatures - a meal fit for a queen. as she padded through the grass, arya would stop every once in a while, and sniff the air, waiting for a snake, unsuspecting, to slither by. it seemed that there were certain 'snake trails', areas of grass that were smoothed by the slithering creatures. arya waited by one of those, and as snake after snake came by, she pummeled them in the head with her paws.
when she was finally satisfied, arya reviewed her cache; there was a blue-scaled snake, about as long as her tail, which resembled highly the one she found in the orchard the first time she met elena. another snake was almost bigger than her jaws could hold, and as long as her body, a milky green color; it had taken several clubs to the head to kill this one, and if arya had not had the element of surprise, she would not have lived to tell the tale. the next serpent she had was a variety of colors, a rainbow of sorts, and would be no more than a mouthful or two for the canine, though a feline like elena might appreciate it as a small meal, or a snack. another slithering busy-body that the canine had caught was violet in hue, and a medium-sized snake, a bit longer than the rainbow one, though shorter than the blue-scaled one. the next two serpents were nearly identical, tannish-gray in color, and unbelievably slender, though much longer than the thick green snake; since they were smaller, though, they were easier to kill. the final serpentine dinner treat was a rather bland white snake, possibly an albino.
with their meal set out, arya let out a long, low howl, the song that came floating from her lips beckoning elena, and elena only, to com and eat with her; arya hoped that no one would intrude upon them, though she figured most creatures had the decency. her love confession was less than an hour away.
