v i o l e t Light. It was the first thing the young cat saw, dimly seeping through the walls of her soft pod. Slowly, she blinked, trying to make sense of her surroundings. Everything was so peculiar, but it was the only thing she knew of her world. This pod was her world, until...it began to lower to the ground, gently, she could feel it in her stomach. The pod opened up, and Violet softly dropped to the ground awkwardly, her legs sprawled as she blinked away from the new, harsh bright light. What is this? Violet thought, trying to get on her paws. She stumbled and slumped back to the ground before trying again, this time succeeding in staying up.
Confused with what she saw, Violet looked around, her head tilted slightly to the side. Her bright violet eyes were wide and curious, darting around while trying to make sense of the world. This was so much different that being in her pod. A part of her wanted to go back, but glancing back at it, she realized she couldn't. Plus, her curiosity prevented her; she wanted to explore the world and learn everything she could. She walked forward a couple steps, wobbling each time she lifted a paw from the ground. Violet knew she would get used to this in time; she didn't bother flustering herself. Slowly, she walked further and further away from her pod, not once looking back. What was the point in that, truly? Right now Violet wanted to look around. Perhaps she would find her way back to her old pod later.
A sharp feeling rumbled through her stomach, emitting a quiet, deep sound. Violet's eyes narrowed, trying to figure out what was wrong. Slowly, the word came to her; hungry? She blinked. Hungry? What was she hungry for? Food, the word rested on her tongue. Violet needed food, but how would she get that? Poor Violet didn't know what food was; what she could eat and what she couldn't. In her line of sight, the cat couldn't find anything that looked appetizing to her eyes or mouth. With an unsure expression, Violet sat down and pondered what to do...

Orad's eyes adjusted to the bright, daytime light - he still wasn't too accustomed to this world, although he tried to make out that he was an expert. With a happy spring in his step and a sparkle in his eye as he searched for adventure, he couldn't help but feel this was a lucky day of some sorts.
This jolly mood continued until he saw the remains of a pod; cracked and broken on the dusty floor, this could only mean one thing. Somewhere in this big, wide orchard, there was a little creature without a guide. Orad felt an instinctive need to be a hero - this shell still looked quite fresh, so its owner couldn't have wondered far away. If he could find them, and give them a few tips, he might have another creature to call his friend!
The feline scented the air, and smelled the distinctive stench of new life; following it with a new excitement filling his belly, making him wonder who he'd find at the end of the trail, he padded through the orchard. Whoever had left the shell seemed to be only walking away from it, and never looking back - quite unique for a new-born! When he had fallen from his tree, he couldn't help but look back over and over again, wondering if this was the right thing for him to do. He had been so afraid of setting out into the world . . . in fact, he still was. He liked it in the orchard; he knew his way around, and he felt safe when he knew that he was older and bigger than most of the creatures here. This was only the beginning of his life - he was only a tiny bit older than the newly hatched eggs of the orchard - so why shouldn't he spend as much time as he wanted here? He was in no rush to go out and explore!
Finally, his search came up with some results: after following the trail, he spotted a grey feline who was almost lilac in the morning light. Orad felt another tingle of excitement after realising that this was a female; he wasn't quite sure why yet, but he felt a special affinity to females. He was always in search of love, of finding that special someone - the tree he'd fallen from had woven elaborate tales of princes and princesses in his youthful mind, convincing him that out there somewhere was a creature who would really love him. The fact he hadn't found this creature yet nurtured his hope, so that it grew bigger and bigger. Now, it was inflated so much so that whenever he found a female, he couldn't help but think that perhaps this was his princess!
Keeping his approach slow and calm - he didn't want to scare off this beautiful young feline before he'd even had a chance to say hello - he walked towards her, his red tabby fur tingling with joy. A new friend, or more, was a metre away from him, a perfect cat for him to bless with his newfound wisdom. About this world he knew little - but about the orchard, he knew practically everything!
"Excuse me," he murmured in a quiet, settled tone; his voice was generally quite soft, so he didn't think he would intimidate the little feline. "Are you new? I saw the remains of your pod, so I thought I'd just come over and say hello." He put on his best act of nonchalance; the calmer he looked, the more appealing he would be, he hoped.

v i o l e t The young female stopped and sat down, lifting a paw and bringing it to her face. She saw something shine there, and felt something--claws. Violet practiced sheathing and unsheathing them, giggling each time at the feeling. She was such a child, finding fun in something so little. But she'd just come into the world and was allowed to do such thing. She stood up, this time strong on her paws. Violet began to walk away, but was stopped by a soft voice. Confused by the sound, the feline turned and tilted her head curiously. The voice belonged to a reddish male, a cat like her.
She stared at him for a moment, soaking up his words. He seemed kind, she liked that. Oh, it would have been terrible to run into a rude cat! Violet gave him a sweet smile. "Hello!" She said, perhaps a bit too enthusiastically. The young feline couldn't help her excitement; this was the first cat she'd seen, the first one she'd talked to! Her ears twitched as she nodded. "New?" Her voice was happy and louder than she excepted. She jumped back slightly before quickly regaining her composure. "Yes, I'm new! Thank you, and hello to you too!" Violet grinned happily. She was probably over-doing this, but Violet was generally a happy, optimistic cat.
"I'm--" She paused. "I'm Violet," The feline told him, remembering her name. She liked it; the name flowed out of her mouth naturally. "Who are you?" Violet asked, giving him a sweet smile. She could feel her excitement dying away; it only lasted a little bit it seemed, but she was still very curious about this cat.

Orad liked this young female; she seemed happy, not grumpy like some of the creatures he'd met in the Orchard. They might just get along together, both of them whizzing along faster than the speed of stars - never stopping for anyone, just pelting through life without a care in the world! It was a pretty thought, shimmering in his head like a far-off dream, but he knew it would probably never be true.
The feline heaved a sigh, and shook his head sorrowfully. It seemed that every creature in this Orchard was just raring to go, racing off into life before stopping to ask if anyone might want to come along. This life was cruel and individualistic, and although he would be grateful to find some friends who would stick by him, he knew it was little more than a pipe dream; he would be better off just trying to make friends, and not looking for the long-lasting relationships that he dreamed about.
Shaking his head clear of this miserable thoughts, Orad put on his best smile, nodding warmly at the feline. "Hello, Violet," he purred contentedly, eyes wide with wonder. This female was certainly beautiful, with her grey-purple pelt and pretty lilac eyes, and her name was even more fascinating - unusual, and yet so very enticing! Orad was enthralled with this character, amber eyes glistening with happiness and intrigue. "What a pretty name you have!"
He then realised with a jolt what should be coming next - he was no expert with social occasions, and was always so awkward and disjointed. Next, he should be introducing himself - but how could his plain name compare to hers? Heaving a small sigh of shame, he muttered: "Yes, well, my name's Orad. It means earth. It's not as special as yours." There wasn't a hint of jealousy in his tone; he was astonished by her name, but he wouldn't wish to have it. It was unique to her - he liked her being original.
"Well, if you're new, we'd better show you around!" Orad's voice wasn't forceful, but he wouldn't take no for an answer when it came to this offer; he was intrigued by this female, and he wouldn't just let her get away so easily! He needed at least a day with her, to find out how she worked. She seemed enigmatic and mysterious - how could he possibly leave her behind without at least trying to find out more about her?
The red tabby sat down, his scarlet-tipped tail swishing round and pausing perfectly at his paws. "Do you know how to hunt yet, Violet?" His paws were itching to go and catch some prey - despite his gentle nature, he couldn't resist the sweet taste of meat, especially when his belly was so hungry for food. "I could show you the best places, you know. You're going to love them!"
Although he knew that he would be able to pester her into going, he hoped that she would say yes straight away; it would help to know that she liked him as much as he liked her. To have a relationship with this feline . . . well, it would be more than incredible.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [atrb=background,http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/1690/violettablemiddle.png] Violet's eyes shone when the male complimented her name. She'd never been complimented by someone before--okay, well he might be the first animal she'd run in to, but it was the thought that counted. A sweet smile crawled onto her face as she soaked it in. It was just too easy to please little Violet; everything positive seemed to make her happy or excited. He wasn't that older than her, but old enough to where she'd look up to him. After all, he seemed to know everything. "Thank you!" Violet replied, then let him continue. Her eyes widened and she shook her head vigorously. "No, no, no! Your name is so interesting, Orad! It has somewhat of a story to it, unlike mine. Yours is special too." The young female told him, once again grinning slightly.
Her tail quickly flicked back and forth behind her, practically telling everyone around her that she wanted to play. And she did; she could feel her paws tingling and her mouth threatening to reveal another grin. Violet held the urge back, she didn't want this cat to think she was too weird. Then again, she could blame it to being new to the world, perhaps. She visibly shook her head, then realized Orad would probably wonder why she did that. Violet looked back up at him, calming herself down while doing so, an innocent sparkle in her eyes.
Oh, but now he was offering to show her around! Violet could play later, she'd love to see more of this new world. Then he suggested hunting--that was even better! Even in her childish mind, she knew what hunting mean; it meant she would get food. Her belly almost rumbled again at the thought of this, but she held it back. The feline looked up at him and nodded. "Could you show me how, Orad?" Violet asked him, a pleading expression on her face. "Then maybe you could show me around this place!" Her eyes turned excited, and she did a small jump. The young cat began to run into a random direction, but stopped after only a few steps, giggling quietly. "What am I doing? I have no idea where I'm going. You better lead; I'll get lost!" Violet told him, turning back towards him. Silly Violet! She thought, almost shaking her head before realizing that would be the second time she'd done so without saying anything. Violet began to groom herself, pretending she wasn't embarrassed, when really, she was beyond that. Had she been human, her cheeks would probably still be bright red. The cat kept her eyes off of Orad, but still had him in the corner of her eye, should he begin to walk in another direction.
