Kayalee stood with her face to a light breeze which ruffled her silvery pelt, she sighed and opened her eyes. The rays of the sun cast the shadows of trees in elaborate patterns across the orchard. Kayalee breathed deeply of the scent of growing things and sighed once again. It's so beautiful here, how the trees grow fruits.... The smell of the wildflowers.... The sound of frolicking newborns.... Kayalee thought in wonder of it all. I wonder how large this orchard is.... Maybe it goes on forever! Kayalee thought, excitement colored her eyes. Kayalee turned her head towards the sun and was ready to face the exciting adventure of her life.

She collapsed clumsily to the ground in her first moments of consciousness. The pod had been burst open and now she was out in the real world. Scents and sights stimulated her senses and she inhaled deeply, taking it all in. Some of the animals around her excitedly bounced as they entered the first minuted of life, but she calmly closed her eyes and absorbed her surroundings. Sunshine beamed down on her jet black coat, warming it up quickly. All around her were trees, and she noticed some other pods promising new life. It was all so interesting.
The female's eyes widened in awe and the world around her was so bright and new. Positive emotions flooded her body and the quiet feline composed herself. After nervously standing up, she took a few shaky steps, finding that walking came quite naturally. After she edged about a meter and a half from her tree, she slipped and fell to the ground. Suddenly self-conscious, the young cat slunk back to where she'd started, feeling safer in the shadow of her than than out in the open. But, wow, was this incredible.
And all these other animals, too. At the moment most of them were taking their first breaths of playing together, it all seemed so happy and harmonious. The female couldn't help but wonder if there was some sort of leadership or order around here. Already, ambition was gnawing at her - and she had only been around for a few minutes! Leading... that sounded like what she wanted to do. The feline continued to survey the trees and fruits and blossoms that made up the orchard.
Only when she had begun to adapt to the sensations of sights, sounds and smells all around her did she begin to think about her identity. Who was she? She was Konan. Konan was her name and she was an aboriginal feline native of here. Wherever here was. How big was 'here'? What did it all look like? A thirst for adventure tugged at the elusive little black cat's heart and she wondered what experiences awaited her in this world outside her pod. What was her purpose, though? That made the female think for a little while. Purpose...
Konan felt a little more confident now she had established her own name. She was ready for anything. And then she noticed another feline. Another female feline. This one had a lovely silvery fur coat and stunning blue eyes. Konan looked at her with an unreadable expression and approach carefully and curiously. The way she took her steps made it obvious that this petite little cat with unusually long legs was a newborn. 'Hello,' meowed Konan unsurely. Was this cat a newborn as well? She couldn't guess. The only way to figure it out was by talking, really.

Kayalee stared down at the slightly younger feline who greeted her. She swallowed back her nervousness and meowed, "Hello." Back to the other feline. "My name..... Is Kayalee." Kayalee meowed slowly, speech was a strange thing, all the words were the same but they were all different. The female feline look nice, her black coat reflected the sunlight much like Kayalee's silvery fur. Kayalee's heart filled with a strange emotion, she had accepted this feline as a friend. Maybe... Maybe I am taking this all to fast. Kayalee thought, her expression clouded as she sunk into her world of fear and regret. She had to end the suffering, somehow. She had to keep peace, somehow. A land of peace, where she would later make her tribe.

This feline was named Kayalee, then. Now Konan knew her name she felt a little more comfortable and lost most of her nervousness. This cat seemed friendly and didn't harbor any sort of hostility, and now that the black female was reassured of that she felt her muscles relax. 'Kayalee...' repeated Konan in her naturally quiet voice, rolling the name over in her mind. It suited the silver furred she-cat. It was a nice name. She lifted her head in an attempt to look confident, which didn't really succeed. 'My name is Konan,' she introduced herself. It seemed like the polite thing to do, really, and Konan imagined that Kayalee would feel better talking to a cat she knew the name of. So far the conversation was flowing quite nicely. It was so much easier than Konan had anticipated.
The black she-cat sat down and her tail curled neatly around her paws. She looked into the other cat's amazing ice-blue eyes with her own deep magenta ones. How different everyone was. All the variety, all the possibilities. Even herself and Kayalee were extremely different, and they were both of the same gender and species! Her lighter, grey fur contrasted with Konan's dense jet-black coat and her cold eyes were much different to Konan's warmer hue.
'So, how long have you been... out here?' said the dark feline with a little bit of hesitation. She didn't really know how to piece the words together, but she assumed that Kayalee would recognize that 'out here' referred to being in the world outside of the pod. Konan had come to assume that Kayalee was also very young. She then wondered what would happen after all this. After she left the orchard. Would she still be around Kayalee, or would she leave to embark on her own adventure? Or maybe she'd go with some other animal. Only time would tell. It was incredibly exciting for the lithe little cat.

"It's nice to meet you Konan." The name rolled off Kayalee's tongue in an odd way, but who was she to judge another's name when hers was different herself. She and Konan seemed to be alike in their shyness, their pelts were different but they seemed to mix in a way that made it work. Kayalee listened to Konan's question, she pondered it for a moment. How long have I been out here.... Hmm. "I have been out of my pod for a little over a day." Kayalee responded to the black feline. She looked around, not much changed in her point of view. The birds still chirped, the clouds flitted timidly across the sky, the only thing that changed was the path of the wind and the angle of the shadows. She had greeted the moon and waved the sun away during the evening, and watched the stars as the reigned the evening sky only to give way to the bright triumph of the sun. Is the day a battle between the sun and the moon? She thought, casting a quick glance at the burning sun.

A day? Konan tilted her head to the side, a gesture triggered by her innocent curiosity. A day... so a little bit longer than her. The black cat felt a little bit behind in comparison to Kayalee, and it made her feel a little awkward. As if she was some sort of superior... and Konan didn't really like that. Obviously no sort of dominance had been enforced by her, yet, but Konan had a natural longing for some sort of power or control. Something deep within her that had been present since the moment she'd opened her bizarre looking eyes.
All these feelings were beginning to become familiar to the newborn. First nervousness, then the feeling of warming up to Kaylee, and now this sort of sense of competition and the need to prove herself. The feelings and emotions were shifting and changing very frequently and often. They were all very different to each other and Konan found herself less affected by the emotion itself and more affected by the 'wow' factor of each emotion and the wonder of how interesting it was to feel like this, when a second ago she felt so much different.
'Oh, a day,' smiled Konan and she let out a small laugh. 'That's so much longer than me, I've pretty much only just emerged...' Her voice faded out as she lifted her head to the sky, imitating Kaylee's previous gesture of glancing at the sun. The sun's brightness made Konan squint and she lowered her head; spots interrupting her vision. After blinking a numerous amount of times, the spots finally disappeared. 'It's all so interesting, isn't it?' observed the black feline aloud. She took another quick glance to the sky again, carefully avoiding looking at the sun this time, and saw shapes in the clouds.

Kayalee blinked, she wanted to stare at the majesty of the sun, but it was to bright and caused spots to appear on her eyes. She blinked a few more times and looked at Konan. "A day isn't very long, it feels like it's only been moments since I first hatched." Kayalee meowed, a clouded expression on her face. She had sunk into her own world of memories....
The lithe creature felt trapped in her pod, she fought against it until it snapped. Light flooded into her little pod, she shrank back nervously. Then the pod gave way and she plummeted paws first to the ground. She took a deep breath of the air, it tasted strange on her tongue. She looked down at her little paws. What am I? She thought, then turned to see a tail snaking out behind her. Feline The word came to her, she didn't know what it meant but she supposed that was what she was. What am I to call myself? Came a voice inside of her head. Kayalee The voice again whispered to her. With that, Kayalee began her adventures.
Kayalee pushed herself out of her dream world and answered Konan's question. "Yes, I can hardly imagine anything besides this orchard!" Kayalee meowed, then looked out across the seemingly never ending orchard. "I wonder what else is out there...." Kayalee breathed, she tried to imagine more lands, but couldn't.

When Kayalee said that a day really wasn't that long, Konan thought it over. To her, it sounded like it was, but it actually wasn't long really... was it? She was just exaggerating everything inside her overexcited, overstimulated head. She looked at the cat, who seemed to phase out for a moment. In thought? Konan couldn't help but wonder what she was thinking about, what she could be thinking about. It was evident when the silver feline was clouded out, and obvious when she jolted back into reality.
Konan shared Kayalee's thoughts about the orchard. What else could there possibly be out there? She just couldn't fathom it, or garner up any mental images. For a moment she tried to force an image to appear in her head, but her imagination dwindled. 'I know,' said Konan in a breathy voice. She quite liked Kayalee, but she didn't really know what standards to measure her by. This was the first animal she'd ever spoken to. But she didn't have any reason to dislike her, and her nature seemed quite similar to her own. It was nice just to be able to talk to somebody like that. Konan deemed Kaylee as a 'good cat'. She tried to picture what a 'bad cat' would be like, or maybe even a 'bad dog'. She'd noticed the canines bustling about around the orchard and she wasn't going to deny it, they frightened her a little.
Konan returned her focus towards the blue-eyed female. 'I can't wait to go out there. Into other lands. I really wonder what it's like,' she couldn't stifle a grin at the thought of such adventures. Her tail twitched slightly as a consequence of her trying to contain her anticipation, but the attempt fell futile. 'When are you planning to go out there, Kayalee?' Konan asked the question because she honestly did not know when she was going to leave, and she wondered about the other female's plans.

Kayalee looked towards Konan, then laid down in the grass. The grass swirled around her, it felt funny, like a tickle. "I don't know where I will go. I want to go somewhere open and find a group of creatures like myself and settle down there." She tried to imagine an open, grassy area with lots of sun, maybe some flowers, and wind swirling through her fur. She failed, she couldn't even try and imagine another cat. Why is it so hard to imagine things? Kayalee thought. She knew it was because of her lack of knowledge of the world, but it irritated her greatly that nothing could come to mind.

Kayalee's plan sounded reasonable and as she explained it to Konan, the black she-cat nodded her head in approval. Settling down with other creatures like her would be a good idea. The feline liked that idea, and she knew that she wanted to be some sort of leader. She was ambitious and wanted to uphold a position of control in a group of some sort. A position of authority, one that she could carry proudly. That was her dream. It was almost like a certain part of her had woken up, and enlightened Konan with what her purpose was. Was purpose the correct word? Destiny seemed more accurate... yes, her destiny was to be on the upper hand of the hierarchy.
The coming of this idea made her eyes light up and her smile grew bigger. 'That sounds like a good idea,' beamed Konan. 'I don't want to live alone, I'd prefer to be a part of a group.' She was about to mention her dream of leadership, but stopped herself. She couldn't help but wonder what sort of group Kayalee would end up in, or what kind of group she would end up in. The dark furred feline knew for sure that she didn't want to just be a part of the body of the group, she wanted to be superior, she wanted power. But would she join an existing group, or attempt to form her own? Both would be difficult because if she were to attempt to form her own group, how would she obtain members? And if she were to join an existing group, it would be difficult to climb the ranks until she was content her position is high enough.
Another question came to Konan... what about the canines? Were they friends or foes, or some sort of shade of grey; neutral? 'You say creatures like yourself... does that include those... canines?' when she said 'canines', Konan gestured towards a small group of dogs with her tail. The dogs were settled down quite calmly and were a good few meters away.

Kayalee fell into thought again, she dreamed of being a leader of a group of peaceful creatures who only fought if it was necessary. She got the feeling Konan would be a good candidate to help her, possibly. Kayalee's tail twitched at Konan's mention of canines. "Yes, I would include canines if I find them to be a strength instead of a weakness to the group." Kayalee meowed, then she thought over what she said. It sounded slightly odd, but she couldn't figure out how to say it. What Kayalee wanted in a group was more of an extended family of creatures with a desire for peace among all. With no one being more important then another, unless they were the leader. No species would reign supreme over another, no gender would either. She zoned out into her own little paradise once again. Kayalee rose to her paws again and meowed, "I feel it is time for me to continue my exploration.... You are welcome to join me.... If you want."

The other female didn't seem as nervous around canines as Konan was, and the darker cat couldn't help but acknowledge a sudden warm feeling of admiration rise up inside her. Admiration... it was quite new, quite similar to her sense of competitiveness and quite pleasant.
Konan watched Kayalee rise to her paws. She said that she was welcome to join her... and the black cat stopped for a moment to think about the offer. It was very very tempting, she had actually grown to like Kayalee and traveling with somebody else instead of on her own sounded safer and more comfortable. And she was also quite certain that being with this blue-eyed female would improve her chances of reaching her dream and wouldn't interfere with her goal at all. The positives outweighed the negatives, but still, she could not help but hesitate.
It just seemed to be quite fast. Everything was flying by at a speed that the magenta-eyed feline didn't feel like she could keep up with. First it was emerging from her pod and coming into the big, wide world, then it was meeting and warming up to Kayalee, then it was this idea of joining a group... was this too fast, or was this what life was like? Konan felt like she'd rather be given more time to get used to being inside her own fur before embarking out of the orchard and starting her adventure. But another half of her was bursting with anticipation and wanted to get out as soon as possible, and being with a cat she considered to be her friend seemed like the most enjoyable way to do so.
This little inner debate finally concluded itself and Konan looked at Kayalee carefully. In her eyes, she saw ambition quite like her own. But different. Konan's ambition could be portrayed by flickering red fire, the sort of ambition that will burn down anything that stands in its way. Kayalee's ambition was calmer and more peaceful, like a stream, and the obstacles standing in the way of the stream would be flowed around and forgotten, dealt with in a much more peaceful manner. The black feline wondered if their contrasting ideas and hopes would balance each other out or cause conflict. She could only hope for the former. 'I would be honored,' replied Konan to Kayalee's question. Her decision had been made, and her heart began to beat frantically. She mirrored the silver-furred cat by rising to her feet elegantly. She couldn't wait to go.

Kayalee purred, it would be great to explore with a partner. Even one who seemed as ambitious as her, but in a different way. There were so many paths through the orchard, she didn't know which to take first. A large path wound through a denser part of the orchard, it seemed to lead towards another forest. Another slightly narrow, rocky path lead through a less dense forested area she could smell the unique scent of water, and the splashing of fish. The third path lead through long grasses and a few trees. Wildflowers bloomed on the edges of the wide, dusty path. It seemed most appealing to Kayalee, but she didn't know which path to follow. Forest? River? Plains? The three choices all had different outcomes, but she knew she and Konan had to choose one. "Where do you think we should go?" Kayalee asked, glancing quickly at each path once again, her eyes stopped on the Plains path, but she would leave it up to her friend to decide, she could always go to the plains later.
((You post where we should go, then I can make a thread in the second layer place))

Three paths, each offering different conditions and different opportunities. This was all very new to Konan, still, so she took a moment to absorb what everything was like. The first path sampled denser, luscious forests that looked quite like a continuation of the orchard, but still unique. Konan didn't really want to take this path, solely because of its similarities to the orchard. She wanted to go somewhere completely different to the orchard, as she had pretty much adapted to the conditions here and had a thirst for new discoveries and unfamiliar places.
The next one was narrow and down the path was a forest, not as thick as the first path's, but Konan inhaled the scents of things she'd never smelled before and was instantly captivated. A... river? And possibly aquatic life that resided in the river. After distinguishing the scent of the river from the scents of the fish, she was very curious and tempted to go down that path, but there was one more. The third path was decorated with a border of wildflowers. The path was wider and dustier, and there were fewer trees than the other paths. Long grass grew and the scents of this direction, the plains, were nice.
She was torn between the second and third options, so she looked at Kayalee. She noticed her eyes stop on the dusty path, prettied by wild flowers. She seemed evidently partial to the third path. Because Konan didn't know whether to choose the river path or the plains path, she decided to go with the plains path for her companion's behalf. Besides, if she wanted to do more exploring, she could always do that some other time. 'I think we should go this way,' said Konan brightly, taking a few steps down the third path.
