I don't remember if these have been suggested on the boards or not, but if they have I haven't seen them:
1. Word count of the day/week/whatever - Any RP post with the minimum words listed earns the poster a certain amount of exp per post, can be limited to a certain number of posts.
2. Word of the whatever - I know this has been mentioned in chat, and that Embers has used it elsewhere, so no explanation needed. Limit of one, perhaps?
3. Phrase of the whatever - A random phrase to be used in any RP post. The post must still flow naturally, no matter how weird the phrase may be. Limit of 1?

Embers picks some word, any word, and posts it somewhere for everyone to see...likely the announcements. Anyone that uses said word naturally in a post gets the exp for the day. It was to flow in with everything else in a way that makes sense, though. Something unusual but not impossible to implement.

I don't like the idea for number 1. You should post the amount of words you do because you enjoy roleplaying and have something to respond to, not because you'll get extra EXP. :/

Well, people won't post especially for the exp, but it's a good incentive, and a nice way to thank those long posters

I just don't think it's beneficial to have people posting one long post a day/week/two weeks or whatever time frame you are given, then have the rest be sub-par and rushed.

I like the "Word of the Day/Week" idea. (: However, I think with Embers' school obligations right now, perhaps someone other than herself would have to set up a thread to do it in. Maybe if you got a word of the day in consecutively for seven days, then you got a bonus? Then people PM their total Word of the Days for a whole week (some people might have 1, some people might have all 7) and PM them in to the WOTD organiser, who then PMs on all the EXP totals needed to Embers. Just an idea. xP

Good idea Myst. :3 And Alehue, some people don't have the time to do long posts every day. Life is just too busy nowadays for that kind of stuff, mostly.
