She hadn't left yet. She was too enthralled with the new, yet strangely familiar world before her. She had taken the time to explore the Orchard and had found a suitable spot to lay upon. It was a small hill that overlooked a multitude of birthing trees all around her. It was, in her mind, the best location to see a live birth. She had experienced it, yet she had not witnessed it happening to anyone else. At the moment it was driving her crazy, Kaolin was devoting her entire existence just to see it happen. Most might find that absurd, but not her. Life intrigued her! And the masculine female wanted to witness it begin!
That wasn't to say other things were not on her mind. She had a strange feeling in her stomach, one that her mind instantly attributed to hunger. The canine's tail wagged ever so slightly when she was able to so quickly identify the sensation. It was a happy feeling being able to recognize something that you should otherwise have no knowledge of. It made you feel smarter than you really were.
Kaolin paused and looked down at her paws, curling them in and out. What made one smart? Who determined if one was more intelligent than another? Was she smart? These thoughts and many more flooded her mind as she stared down at herself. Completely oblivious to the outside world (this seemed to be a trend) she thought on. Hopefully she wouldn't miss what she so dearly wanted to see.

Such an orchard, intertwined with the very being of life. It bared the fruits of existence, gifting breath and feeling. The child had not yet wanted to leave the place, and instead would like to explore a bit more. But it wasn't simply physical exploration, it was to discover herself and explore mentally. And in such a peaceful land it was truly the place to do it. But silent musings would be interrupted by a a figure, one she had not yet noticed. Rising a bit her emerald gaze would move from her paws than rest on the canine, intrigued. Yes, a stranger, but certainly not foe? Probably young like herself, new to the world.
But would Chyrie approach? Not yet, alert she would simply wait, hoping to be noticed. Shuffling her paws a bit the grasses would rustle, and the ginger would hope it would make enough sound to signal the other. Yet they were so tiny it would be hard to make much noise, and so she would rise. Pausing for a moment the youngster would take a confident step forward, then another. Freezing she would then wait, hoping that a response would be given.

A visitor! Not the one she was hoping to see, but a new face nonetheless. Alas, the mostly black furred newborn hadn't noticed the ginger colored canine, at least not yet. Kaolin was too preoccupied with debating intelligence within her head. Actually, it was more like she was asking questions and unable to think of the answers, perhaps in time and with further interaction with others she would find the answers she yearned for?
Her mind was quickly derailed at the sound of the grass. It sounded just like the wind to the ruby eyed creature so she did not look for it's source. But it did cause her to look down at the blinding white fur on her paws and the pitch black fur on the rest of her body as it blew in the wind. Another train of thought, how was wind created and how could they feel it? She scanned the Orchard and took in it's beauty when her gaze eventually fell upon Chyrie. Kaolin froze and took in a deep breath. Her nose wrinkled a bit as if in disappointment, not because she didn't want to see the other female, but because she had yet to be able to tell gender by just smell. It was a talent that alluded her at this very moment, and it perplexed her dearly.
After several minutes of just staring, really just lost in thought, Kaolin finally stood up and then sat down on her haunches. Her tail wagged ever so slowly as if inviting the other canine to approach. So far Kaolin loved meeting new creatures. She only hoped that trend would continue.

And everything was still, no reply. There was simply a moment, passing by without a word or change. No, not without change. Change was all around, even in one single moment many things had been changed; Chyrie had taken a breath like most living things, felt a small twinge of anxiousness, and the grass had been ruffled a bit by light breeze. But between the two there were no words, not yet had both parties acknowledged the existence of one another. And then ruby eyes would scan upwards, scan the Orchard, and then land on the ginger. But then, another moment.
No words were exchanged, not even a nod. Instead the black child would simply stare, and the pup did not have the heart to ask why. Then she would sit up, hope fluttering inside the lass like a butterfly. Noticing the gesture she would nod, trotting over a bit before plopping down nearby. "Hello." a calm tone would exit from her maw, no hints of true emotion. Not even a friendly sparkle of her emerald orbs, simply a 'hello'. But Chyrie would not stop to wonder if it was repelling, as she had not noticed her own behavior. In fact the canine had yet to discover many things about herself.
Why did she want to speak with this youngster? It wasn't a thought that passed through her mind, she had no verbal reason. It was simply an urge, a want. Maybe it was fueled by the boldness of youth, or possibly her simple inexperience. That did not matter, because to her the reason was obsolete. Later would probably end up pondering the matter, intrigued by the workings of herself and the unconscious reasons of action. But during this action, this mental and physical movement, there was no need. Why? Well she did not yet have a reason, just the feeling.

Chyrie had taken the unspoken offer and walked closer to the darker female. The fiery colored canine held little to no emotion in her eyes and upon her face. She was extremely difficult to read, not that Kaolin was any good at that sort of thing. The newborn sat in the same position upon her haunches, her tail progressively wagging faster as the other female got closer. It was involuntary, something she didn't even notice. When Chyrie reached Kaolin she plopped down and spoke, the former's emerald green eyes looking up at the latter's ruby red.
The white pawed female stood up when the other said hello, tongue lolling out and tail swishing back and forth. She leaned down and sniffed the air around Chyrie not even pausing to wonder if this action could be seen as rude. After taking in the smell Kaolin sat back down, the happy look still on her face, and attempted to speak. Her voice was rather androgynous sounding neither masculine or feminine. "Herrr..lur... Hello." For some reason she could never get the first word or two to come out correctly.
A pause for nearly half a minute as she thought of what to say next. The lovely color of Chyrie's eyes and coat had caught the attention of the female. They were so vastly different from the color of her own, or so she thought. Then, just as suddenly as those thoughts crossed her mind she remembered her reason for waiting atop this little hill.
"Have youuul... Have you come to witness birth as well?!" Kaolin suddenly stood up, a combination of her tongue panting and her tail and rump wagging in excitement at the thought.

For a moment the trees were quite different, not just a couples trees who brought life. Because they were now living, breathing, they had auras. But the change was not physical, the large plants looked no different. But her mental eyes had opened, unlocked by such deep questioning. These would allow her to truly discover herself, see things in a more complex way. Sadly she was too young, too young to process such a change and the eyes would close. For a moment she would be staring, unable to speak. Such change... and then it would all fade back to normal. A small sigh would escape her maw, but not a pained one. It was the last remnant of her hazy reverie, the longing sigh wishing the eyes would open again and allow her to see more of what they had to offer.
The way the child sniffed the air intrigued her, what was she looking for? For a moment once again the eyes would peek open a bit, flooding her mind with all the possibilities. And when they quickly closed the ginger would hold fast to the flooding thoughts, holding them closed to her heart so she could later use them to ponder. But the fellow canine's 'hello' would abruptly bring the lass out of her musing, back into the reality and anticipation of the moment. The words were drawn out at first, Chyrie would be unable to identify them. And then they would be tied together with the correct pronunciation of the greeting. Then the second part of her words would be quite striking, such a young lass coming to witness something so important and mature? Admirable.
But was this why Chyrie had wandered to the spot, no. She had come for a place to think, to ponder, to muse, and to get lost in a comforting daydream. "I have come here for a place to think, but I'd gladly watch with you." a sort of happy emotion had been intertwined with her words, the slightest bit of emotion.

An expression she had never witnessed or heard before. The canine before her had breathed out in a rather peculiar manner and it confused Kaolin. Was Chyrie out of breath? Had she just been running through the Orchard or was she a new born and not yet accustomed to moving long distances? Just like the darker female. Perhaps it was simply a tick or an uncontrollable habit? So many different possibilities, but none of them, not a single one of the copious number of thoughts that floated through her head, considered it to be a sigh. It was her first time witnessing the phenomenon, and she had not yet experienced it for herself.
So, after a minute or two of silent thinking she set the idea to the side and finally responded to what canine with the beautiful ginger coat had said, having completely missed the looks of deep contemplation moments ago. "Thenk... Thinklll. Thinking. Yes! Think before and after birth! Birth makes think." The words were much easier to think up than they were to get out. Nevertheless the coal colored creature was noticeably excited. The wagging of her tail from before only intensifying. She squirmed around a bit as she spoke. Did the emerald eyed canine understand her? Perhaps she too enjoyed the process of thinking, of contemplating things that could have no answer, ones that could have many and some that had only one?
Kaolin walked closer to Chyrie and plopped down beside her, Ruby red eyes scanning the orchard yet again from atop the hill. A few more seconds of silence and thoughts of what to say next and she spoke. "Wharrr.... What is pretty coat's... Uhm..." Yet another pause and moment of silence. Kaolin looked conflicted and the slightest bit frustrated. She knew the term for this. "Name?! Does pretty coat have name?" She really needed to work on her speaking skills.
((Sorry this took two days. xD))

Broken from her hazy trance she would wait, patient with the canine still learning speech. Finally the words came out, yet they took a moment to process. And the coal youngster was correct, birth did make thoughts occur. Wondering how birth was activated, what happened before birth, and what made those born already know their names? Or develop at different rates? So many questions, the lassie was correct. Nodding she would offer a small smile, surprised with the sudden wiseness of the very young child. "You are correct, many questions and thoughts follow birth. I shall definitely watch it with you. It may answer some of my questions. Thank you for the inspiration. " and Chyrie was truly grateful, pausing a bit before beginning again.
But before her mouth would be opened another inquiry would be posed, quite flatteringly worded. Never having to compare to someone attractive she had not thought herself of beautiful, yet this youngster seemed to think so. Oh she was pretty, yes, feminine yet retaining muscles to fend for herself. And yet despite the masculine build this pup had lovely eyes herself, Chyrie was quite surprised at the depth of their ruby coloring. "Ah, my name is Chyrie. And I wouldn't consider myself pretty. You are quite wise, more mature then I had originally thought. Birth is quite an intriguing thing, and it continues to amaze me. I may be leaving soon, but first I would like to linger a few more days, to solve my questions on birth."
( no need to apologize! I've done it many times, and I should probably be the one apologizing for my late replies. )

The newborn's tail continued to wag as the one next to her contemplated and spoke. The thought of another being so interested in the very thing she had immediately sworn her existence to was exciting! Chyrie mentioned that Kaolin had inspired her in some way. The meaning of the word was lost on her for a moment before she felt something shift in her mind, as if the word itself had violently exploded from some deep pocket of information that she yet had access to. The neurons fired off their electrical and chemical impulses and a concept that had, at one point, served no purpose in her imagination was lit up with an enticing sense of clarity.
The concept was not lost on her and it made the dark one ecstatic to know she could have a positive influence on another. She was also happy to have a companion again, even if it was only for a moment. Though she enjoyed being alone in order to sift through the intricacies of her new found life, she enjoyed the company of others much more. Loneliness was an ugly feeling for her, and most of the time she would like to go without it. But, before she could enjoy the feeling any further the one with the ginger coat responded to her matter-of-factly stated compliment and question.
"Chy....Rie.... Chyrie? Chyrie!" Another look of childish excitement and another pause to process what had been said and what would be said next. Being called wise made her tongue loll out. Her tail was waving so fast that her backside was moving with it. "Yessrrl... Yes! Am... I am curious! Wait for birth to think! Think before birth! Satisfy... Curious!" Maybe if the pup slowed down and controlled her excitement she could form more coherent sentences? Or perhaps she just needed practice?
((I seem to be apologizing with every post I make but Work has been kicking my butt lately! Really really sorry for the inexcusable amount of time it took me to write this post!))
