my life will be one great crescendo! The first thing he was aware of was his name. It came from within him, like a whisper nearly lost among his heartbeat. "Cantando." And just like that, there it was. Then, he realized he was a he, definitely separate from the tree. The newly named Cantando shifted, and found himself surrounded by a snug pod that fit the curve of his back perfectly.
Now that he could, moving seemed the natural thing to do. He wiggled his toes, the tip of his tail, and pressed his forehead against the wall of the pod. He had a vague sense that there was something beyond his encasement, and suddenly it was entirely too small. He kept wriggling, and his nails scraped against the bottom of the pod, scraping away some of the flesh. Then he kicked, and everything gave way and he tumbled onto a soft patch of grass.
Upon opening his eyes, Cantando could see the tree he had once been a part of. He thought it was quite beautiful, it's name coming to mind effortlessly - the Kata-Hal. It struck him that he wasn't much like it at all, and he should probably take a moment to get used to being a not-tree. He rolled over, took a moment to examine his dark bluish pelt, and then stood.
He found his legs far too long to easily control, but he didn't fall, instead finding a pace that he could stumble along at. He was fairly sure that there was more world than this, and wherever it was, he would have to go. word count ★ 261 notes ★ birth threads are the best threads. uwu

The tree swayed gently in the breeze, rocking the pod and the inhabitant within. A slightly stronger gust dislodged the pod, which fell to the ground and split open, revealing the slightly damp body of the canine. She sat for a few brief moments in the broken remains of the birthing capsule, a tangle of overlarge paws and coltish legs. She blinked her dark amber eyes a few times, clearing her blurred vision, still somewhat disoriented from the unceremonious way she was born...and then...awareness washed over her like a wave. All her senses began working at once, the smell of the fruits of the trees, the sounds of rustling leaves, the colours of nature, bright and vibrant to one who had only known darkness before. It took several long minutes for her senses to tune themselves, and then she stood, those long legs wobbling precariously as she got her balance, threatening to send her toppling over, but the canine, by some miracle of physics remained upright.
She noticed another, probably only minutes older than herself, making his way to places unknown, and followed, her uncoordinated zigzagging trot steadying into something more smooth as she got the hang of the whole walking thing. She released a short sharp 'yip', an attempt to alert him to her presence, so he would not leave without her. It would be nice to have a companion to explore this brave new world, and he seemed to be just like her! Well, not exactly. Where her coat was black, with tan points, his appeared to be a mottled grey, but it was clear they were scions of the same species, and that was reason enough for her to want to stick by his side, at least for a while.

my life will be one great crescendo! Cantando's attention was caught by a sharp yip from behind him. He skidded to a stop and turned, to find another not-tree much like himself, only black and tan instead of his mess of greys. Something about them seemed...feminine, and young. "Oh, hi!" The words spilled out of his mouth, and he was rather taken aback by the realization he could speak. Of course, he was thinking in words, but it hadn't occurred to him he could make those words be sounds.
The young canine stepped forward to sniff at the other curiously, and found she smelled of birthing pod. His tail started to wag, as he found the presence of the new creature quite pleasant. Some more words nudged their way out."What're you called? I'm Cantando." Goodness, his name was hard to say. But it was his name, and that was that.

Morse's tail began to wag as soon as the other canine turned around, her tongue lolled comically from the side of her muzzle as she lowered her front half to the ground her back end sticking high in the air. She darted about playfully, pawing at the male in a friendly way, her ears flicked forward, playful and full of joy.
"Hi! I'm Morse!" she said, her voice was bright, and quite high pitched, and it surprised her enough that she released a startled yip. "Do I actually sound like that?" she squeaked.
Yes, yes she did. The voice of her youth would be high, but would deepen as she aged, and become much more pleasant to the ear. Oh well, no use crying over things that cant be helped. The slight droop of her ears at the realisation that it was, indeed, her voice had caused the left to bend in the middle, covering her eye, and she shook her head, making it spring back upright. She then turned her attention back on the male, still playful and trying to incite him into some sort of game as she spoke.
"Where are you going? Do you want some company? I'd like to join you. Maybe we can explore and have some kind of adventure!" she babbled, clearly unable to filter her words as they poured out of her brain, this was a skill she might learn in time, but for now she, and anyone around her would be stuck with it.

my life will be one great crescendo! Cantando couldn't help but laugh at the way the other canine jumped about, and he soon joined in, crouching and batting at her gently. Morse just kept talking and talking in her high little voice, and that was somehow funny, too. The young male suppressed his giggles to listen, though. He couldn't deny the idea of an adventure was enticing, as was company. "I don't know where I'm going, but you can come if you wanna! Or we can split up and then tell each other about our adventures! Or we can find more friends, or everything!"
The way he rambled on was also funny, and Cantando collapsed in a fit of giggles, white-tipped tail beating against the ground. He had to admit, the world was looking pretty great so far.

The black female's pink tongue lolled comically out the side of her mouth, a puppyish grin splitting her muzzle as she watche the male collapse into a heap of giggles. It seemed laughter was contagious, and she too found herself flopped over on the ground, her tail wagging as she laughed uncontrollably. A very unfeminine snort made her stop, momentarily horrified that she had made such an unladylike sound, and then, it was giggles all over again. This lasted for several minutes before she was able to get herself under control enough to speak.
"I heh, I would like to come along with you for a time" she said, her breath still ragged and her sides aching from the exertion of her giggle fit. "I think, for now at least, until we get used to, well, being alive, I guess, we should stick together. Oh! maybe we can even find others and have a BIG adventure!" she said, her voice rising in pitch and volume as the last thought struck her, her tail wagging so quickly now that it was just a furry blur attached to her rump.
This whole living thing? It was fun, and she was going to make the most of it.

my life will be one great crescendo! Once both canines had recovered from their giggle fits, Cantando seated himself as gracefully as he could manage. "Yes, we can have all sorts of adventures together! We'll go all over the entire world!" Of course, Cantando was still a pup in a sense, and he certainly hadn't a clue at the magnitude of his statement. But he knew there was a world out there with things waiting, and he couldn't just leave them sitting out there. "The only question..." he said, standing again with a vigorous wagging of his fluffy tail, "is where to start! Which way should we go, Morse?"

Morse pondered his question, her tail thum-thumping on the ground, stirring up pollen and dust as her deep amber eyes gazed out at the world beyond. This world was so big, there was so much to do, to see, to experience and she wanted it all. Her ears flicked in indecision for a moment, then she saw in the distance, the gently swaying blue grasses. Yes! that was the place they could start! At least for now. She stood, stretched expressively, her bones and muscles creaking as they were tested to their limits for the first time, then nodded her head in the direction of the Blue Plain. "That looks as good a place as any to start" she replied, then, with a little more exuberance. "Shall we start out adventure?" (ooc: sorry for the late reply, and not responding to your notes on the bottom of your posts, I actually didnt see them til just now, and yes, I do think these two will be great friends )

my life will be one great crescendo! Cantando mimicked his companion's stretch with a grin, then followed her gaze out to the blue-tinted grass. "Oh, that place looks like me!" Indeed, the hue of his pelt was rather similar, and the way the grass swayed in the breeze brought to mind the careful way he was beginning to hold himself. It would be an even better comparison later, though of course he didn't know this. "It's the perfect place to begin! Let's go, yes, yes!"
With that the little canine nearly leapt away into the fields, certain that all that awaited in that sunny place would be perfect without being able to even comprehend the possibilities yet. All he knew was that he was Cantando, he was alive, and he and Morse were going to do something amazing. word count ★ 131 notes ★ oh, don't worry about these. just a place for my rambling.
