The cold dead silence filled the Orchard. Nothing but the cool winds winding between the tree's was in presence to the shaking cocoon. What was this? The animal inside whimpered and wriggled weakly. It was too cramped in this thing, and he didn't like it. Not one bit. But hopefully, when he was out, there would be something there to comfort him. Tell him everything was okay. Finally, the stem of the cacoon snapped, and it plummeted down to the Earth. It cracked open, and out tumbled a gaunt, spindle-legged, bundle of fur.
He slowly rose to his high white paws, taking in his first deep breath of oxygen. The fall felt like nothing to him. Thankfully the cacoon broke his fall though. But now looking up with dark ruby red eyes, he looked around for anyone nearby. He shook out his black, grey, and white fur. He looked behind him, and noticed he had a cropped tail. He wiggled it, and found it amusing.
A whisper floated to his auds, and his dark red eyes darted over to his cracked cacoon. "H-huh…?" His voice almost spooked him. It was still silent in the Orchard, when he expected at least one other animal to be there. But no. Unfortunately not one showed, but he was too focused on the word coming from his cacoon to take notice of that now. "Kennedy…" It whispered again, and his deep, sunken optics widened. Was… Was that his name?
"Kennedy." He repeated, and smiled weakly. He liked the name. It had a… a nice roll off the tongue. And giving one last glance around, Kennedy decided no one was coming. Was it a sign? Probably. He was meant to be alone after all… But then his white paws began to move. He didn't know where he was heading to, but he had a gut feeling that it was somewhere to civilization. Somewhere, away from his cacoon.
