Silva yawned, stretching in the shade of one of the many maple trees that filled her territory ad home. Summertime again. The third she had seen since she was hatched, since she, Antares, and Ree had formed Starpack and since Silva had realized she was perfectly content with the world. Something about summers made Silva particularly reflective, she supposed, perhaps because it was the time of year that most of the pods started falling from their trees and hatching, or perhaps it was simply because it was an anniversary of so many things dear to Silva- the meeting of her three best friends, the founding of starpack, and later, the confession of love from her mate and hatching of her favorite son. The canine's tale wagged just thinking about her family. Antares, Shadow, and of course Nerah who Silva considered a sister in all but blood, and Seraphi who Silva loved as a daughter.
The canine chuckled to herself, climbing to her paws. The old Silva was never so reflective, she mused. The old Silva would have looked at this Silva now and wondered what the canine was doing, sitting and lazing in the shade when there was so much to do in this world. Perhaps she had gotten a bit emotional in her later years (Silva was only three, but as far as she knew, she, her pack, and a few others were the oldest creatures in the world, so there was no real way to tell if they were young for their ages or ancient).
The canine glanced musingly up at the Maple Tree she had been lying under. A hint of the old more plaful Silva sparked up as she recalled Antares and a few other felines pulling themselves up trees as easily as walking. Silva could easily teleport to get to the top of things, but she had never really tried climbing up the bark as her feline friends could do s easily as breathing. Perhaps she could just....? The canine tensed, crouching down on her hind legs before leaping into the air, front claws digging into the bark of the tree while her hind paws scrabbled for purchase.
A moment later, the canine was stuck by her front paws to the tree bark with her hind legs waving uselessly as they tried, and failed, to get a good grip on the wood. She had not thought this through. She had not thought this through at all.

Antares lazily sunned himself on a bark stripped log, he tended to do that an awful lot nowadays. The heat from both the log and the sun was just so relaxing to him, despite his fur occasionally over heating him on particularly hot afternoons. However the temperature was just right for napping out in the open. This relaxed state was perfect for musing, he tended to mostly catch himself thinking mostly of the starpack and his family within it, and the new opportunities that would lie ahead for them. He was never the type to dwell or think about the past though.
A very loud scrambling noise managed to wake him from his thoughts, causing him to leap to his toes in surprise. The feline looked around in a shocked curiosity looking for where the sound was coming from. He wasn't particularly shocked when he was Silva scrambling to try and climb a tree but quickly became alarmed when she made it several feet up the trunk and lost her grip. Quickly thinking, he bounded over to the tree and stood just underneath where her legs were flailing at the bark.
"Let go of it you'll land on me." the feline was quite aware that Silva falling on him with that much momentum would likely be painful, but that was certainly better than he falling further to that hard ground.

Silva flicked her ears guiltily as she heard the voice of her mate. "Oh gosh, sorry hun, I hope I didn't wake you" she called down sheepishly, wagging her tail in hello. Despite the rather...unusual...situation of today, she was always glad to see Antares. "I'm not in any danger just a bit- erg - a bit stuck" Her first grip had been a little too tight, and now her claws were embedded into the wood. Silva wiggled and shifted one paw until it broke free of the bark, lowering her down a few inches so her hind paws were now resting lightly on Antares's back without Silva actually putting any of her weight on the feline. "I'm about to drop now" Silva warned the feline before yanking out her other paw, giving a yelp of surprise as she flopped down on top of Antares. Canines had never been gifted with the grace of felines, nor were they given the ability to always land on their paws, so the fall was just as ungraceful as expected, though Silva did manage to twist at the last second so she rolled off of Antares rather than landing right on top of him- the momentum would keep her from crushing him, though at the same time having him their would certainly help break the fall.
At the end of it, Silva ended up flopped onto her back in the leaves, bark and leaf-bits all over her fur and looking almost exactly as she did as a pup, despite having gone through two evolutions since her hatching. "Sorry" she muttered again sheepishly, looking up at Antares with sudden concern. "I didn't hurt you too much, did I?"
A moment of realization struck the canine and she would have facepalmed if she had any hands to do it with. "Oh gosh, only now do I realize that I could have simply teleported from the tree" she laughed, giggling at her own folly.

"Nah, I was already awake when I heard you struggling." the feline smiled pleasantly up at his mate. Sometimes she acted no older than a pup but Antares had long learned to love it. He tensed himself as Silva announced that she was going to drop from the tree, well aware that tensing himself would do no good but it was an instinct.
The feline let out a sharp oof as Silva landed on him, albeit only partially. He wasn't used to having anything much heavier than an aboriginal land on his back so the sudden weight was still rather painful but he's certainly felt worse. Antares stretched to adjust his back again as he turned to his mate who looked uncannily like a giant hatchling.
"You look like you've just hatched." he snorted with an amused grin on his face. Seeing as both of them were three years old and among the oldest living natives is was especially amusing to see her covered in leaves and looking like a pup.
"No, I'm fine, are you all right, you landed pretty hard?" the dark feline commented, his grin dropping slightly to a concerned look. She clearly didn't look injured whatsoever, but better safe than sorry. He moved forward and started nuzzling and poking at her with his muzzle, partially looking for any injuries and partially out of affection.
"Oh gods. I forget about that ability too often for my own good. That's alright though, what's done is done." Antares promptly flopped down next to her to continue relaxing as he had before she got stuck in the tree, but a sudden cawing from above and the flapping of white feathers in his face made it clear that someone had a different idea.
"I swear you need to learn the my face is not a perch come on."

Silva wagged her tail as Antares came over in concern, flopping over onto her side and pawing gently at him until he flopped down next to her. "I'm fine, no worries" she giggled. "You know I've been through a lot worse. I'm just glad you're alright. And of course I look like I just hatched. We're only, what, three years old? It's not like we're the oldest people around here or anything, We've gotta look the part" Conducting her own quick examination of Antares and determining that he was alright and not harmed in anyway by falling canine, Silva continued rolling over until she was half-sprawled on top of him, relaxing idly using his shoulder as a pillow, tail wagging.
Silva grinned as a certain bird companion of Antares's flapped down to join him, offering a friendly tail-wag and low bark of greeting. She had never grown too close to Antares's companion, but certainly approved of the idea. The canine had idly considered getting a companion of her own before, but had ultimately decided that it wasn't for her to go seek one out. She would certainly be glad to befriend a bird or other somesuch creature if the opportunity ever arose, but for now, it didn't, and Silva was fine with that too.
Pinged by that same burst of playfulness, Silva leaped up onto her paws, careful not to step on Antares. "C'mon" she told him with an impish grin, nudging him lightly with her muzzle. "Teach me how to climb a tree like a feline again. Perhaps with your sage advice I might be able to manage it"
