I just that that having 'of the month' awards would be a cool addition to the site. Just a bit of friendly competition to keep us changing our characters and making up interesting quirks for them. :3
The categories, I think should be; 'Canine of the Month' 'Feline of the Month' 'Group of the Month' 'Member of the Month'.
So yeah, that's it. xD

Okay, I'm really sorry, but it going to take a lot of hell to convince me to do this. I've done OTM awards on my other site for five months and got so fed up with it because of lack of participation that I just stripped the whole site's credit system, and am thinking about keeping it down for good. If someone would like to come up with a fantastic, fair, easy to manage system for choosing which characters would win, I'm all for this, but never again will I try member voting, or manually keeping track of points. XDDD

I kind of agree with Embers (even though it's not my decision in any way xD). It's a change for a site NOT to have OTM awards, and it makes everything kind of... sour, and competitive. Plus, as Embers said, there's no easy way of keeping track of who should be nominated/awarded the prize; if you have member voting, people don't participate, and if you just choose people based on your own/staff judgement, people get all huffy and think "Well I'm clearly not appreciated here so I'm going to leave, sulk sulk." That's my experience, anyway. xP

-shrugs- I'm fine if we don't do it, I just want something so people don't keep their characters bland and in no plots. But yeah, it's fine.

On one sight I'm on, it's up to the staff to decide which member, character, couple and thread deserves the OTM award. They pick people who have done outstanding, are friendly, etc, and characters that are interesting and original. Maybe you could do something like that instead of having everyone vote?
Also, I think the listings should just be member of the month, character of the month, couple of the month and thread of the month. That way, it doesn't take up too much space. And there's only a limited number of groups, so after a while you'd probably have to repeat them. :C

I could take or leave OTM awards. They can be fun but they can also cause jealousy and the like. I'd like to believe we're mature enough to not be wounded if we're not picked, but...yeah.
