AFW v.3.0 CHANGES
For members returning to A False World from previous years, welcome back! We're excited for everyone to dive right into things, but those of you already accustomed to AFW's inner workings, you may be startled by several, integral changes to the site. While we are, for the most part, moving in the same, general direction as we did in the past, there are a few things you should be aware of, in no particular order of importance:COAT COLOR RARITIES The probability of coat patterns that show in the Adoption Center have been modified to increase the frequency of rarer coats such as the "wild" coat colors of the feline and canine species. These new probabilities can be viewed in our Coat Color Rarity list.
EXP EXCHANGE ITEMS The Experience Exchange Shop will now be formatted in part to sell items to users rather than generically named bonuses. These items are meant to be integrated into role play to help better explain the workings of the False World. For example, instead of purchasing the item "evolution," a user would purchase the item "Nocturnal Mantichora." Instead of a character evolving out of the blue, the Nocturnal Mantichora can be used in actual role play to justify the change. Each item in the EXP shop will have a general description along with how it is used, and an OOC explanation of the item's function. Aries has been kind enough to do illustrations of these items, so give her some well deserved credit.
GENERAL REWRITES The majority of general information on the site has been reworked for clarity and/or conciseness. The New Players' Guide now follows a step-by-step format and has been reduced in length. General Rules have likewise been condensed. The Species List now offers a more detailed scope of the different types of characters offered on AFW, and better explains the abilities of Occult and Absconding species. The Site Concept has also been extensively retouched.
IMAGE REASSIGNMENT For members returning and planning to use characters from previous years, you will notice your images are no longer working. Due to a mishap on our image host, we were forced to reupload all AFW images. If you would like a new image for your character put into place, please post in our Image Reassignment thread.
INVENTORIES Every user will now be able to see what items they currently have in their inventory from either purchases, events, giveaways, etc, as well as their EXP exchange history for this season, and a character list. Users are alphabetized and the list will be kept updated. See it here.
LAYER SIX & HIDDEN TIER 02 More advanced players will know that Layer Six was never implemented on the site. Those few people will now have the opportunity to unlock the sixth setting layer when they reach 300 in character posts. Of these new boards include an Absconding-exclusive area. Those who are interested in purchasing the hidden setting layers, a second tier has been added, with two Aboriginal-friendly settings.
COAT RETIREMENTS The Mackerel tabby pattern has been retired and replaced with the classic tabby pattern. Characters with Mackerel tabby coats will keep their patterns, but Mackerel tabbies will no longer be available in the Adoption Center in the future. The tuxedo pattern has also been retired at the moment.
OOC POST COUNT No OOC boards will count posts. In the past, our suggestions and plot boards have added to post count and therefore the accumulation of experience, but this has been reworked. Therefore, only one IC post (a birthing post in the Orchard) will be necessary to gain access to Layer Two boards. Post counts to unlock other layers have also been reworked. To see these reworkings, visit our Layer Access thread.
REPTILIAN SPECIES While they were initially introduced late last season, AFW now has a bonus species of reptile or dragon-esque creatures that will be available to a lesser extent in the Adoption Center. Aries has completed the line arts for their Occult and Absconding evolutions, and will later finish both feline and canine reptile mixes. To see these new images, visit our Species List thread.
