Safety, warmth, peacefulness. No thoughts, no movement, just quiet existence.
But then an indescribable urge - a powerful need to break free causes the newborn feline to push forth. Tiny paws shove at the shell encasing him and he feels a rocking sensation as his cocoon begins to shake back and forth, softly at first and then violently until the creature feels a soft thud and pushes his soft body out of the pod.
Once free from the pod that has created him, Duff stands and shakes off his paws, shaking back and forth as life seems to flow into him. The feline flexes his limbs, wriggles his ears, sniffs the air, and takes a step forth. Trees surround him and he sees different variations of the pod that he has come forth from wriggling on all of the trees. The world is unfamiliar to Duff but he is fueled by excitement and is eager to make contact with anyone he can.
Duff wanders about on instinct, his senses on fire from all the new smells, sights and sounds. His eyes fall on a feline who appears to be the exact opposite of him. While his coat is light, hers is dark, while his eyes are icy hers are fiery. And yet for all these contradictions Duff finds himself approaching her first as opposed to all the other creatures in the orchard. "Hi," he says brightly, smiling wide. "I'm alive! And so are you," he says, because it is the first thing that comes to mind and feels so sweet to say aloud.

((You didn't mention a particular time, so I hope you do not mind if I make it night?))
There is nothing to do but sleep, occasionally gentle shifting, a swaying sensation, and a soft murmuring that might be nothing at all. Until suddenly, there is falling, floating. This is not a welcome sensation. The feeling stops, and the world spins, then zooms away, inexplicably far larger than it has ever been. And cool, and bright, compared to the darkness of the cocoon that until recently was her home.
Ruby eyes scan her surroundings. Yes, she is she, and feline, and... Sombra. Little Shadow... she is named Sombra. She glances up, into the leafy tree far above her head, squinting at the bright silvery orb that flickers in and out of sight amongst the leafy branches. The night wind blows, rustling the leaves; a familiar sound, but one that no longer gives comfort in the chilling wind. She steps away from the remains of her pod, steps at first unsteady as her short legs and large feet have trouble figuring out how they are supposed to work. But the pattern comes quickly, and soon she is walking easily.
She stops again, past the overhanging shelter of the tree, and looks up once more. High above, countless sparkles dance silver in the ebon sky. Something brushes her shoulder, and she jumps back, eyes wide, fur brushed, teeth bared, as her tail once again lashes her shoulder. She sniffs it, then muses on the silver sparkles within the dark fur, like those high above in the sky. She steps on her tail to steady it, and ponders where to go from here.
Hi! I'm alive and so are you!
Her large ears flatten and she whirls around, to a light coated stranger approaching her. A sniff of the air and she knows he his male, and feline as she is, his pale eyes and coat glowing faintly, reflecting the light from the orb above. She watches as he pauses, and after a moment realizes he is likely waiting for a response. She hesitates, but then nods. "Yes, we are both alive." She pauses again, thinking, then decides to add just a little more. "And this world is far larger than it used to be, is it not?"
