Maro had run away from the river and had ended up in the forest. Since she couldn't find her way back to the river garden, she decided she would explore a little. Hadn't Antares said his pack was in the forest? Maybe she could find them if she looked around long enough.
Maro's paws crushed dried leaves and twigs underfoot but usually it didn't bother her, until a large thorn got stuck in the thin pads, causing it to bleed a little. That made her yelp and whine. She tried to pull it out with her teeth but it only made the pain worse. Limping, injured paw held up, Maro continued through the forest, hoping to find someone who could help. "Hello?" she called, wondering if anyone was around to here her, "I need a little help."

Arooix's belly fur scratched the undergrowth as she wiggled under a bush, twigs and thorns snagging in her coat. She hadn't gone very far but nonetheless she still seemed to be restless. It was such a strange world, and a big one to. It was just sinking in that she was only a tiny fragment of life upon the face of the land. Through wandering she had seen the twist of the trees and the clouds of the sky, the smell of fear and the smell of happiness. She had explored very little, and with her newborn limbs she really had a tired pace. Luckily she had been born with long, dainty legs that could stretch and cover up for her slow paced gait.
Her paws brought her to a path where she perked her ears to the sound of a calling voice. It seemed to be female, and she seemed to be calling for help. Turning in that direction of the pained voice, Arooix snuffed and lopped towards it. Breaking from the passage, she spotted a brown and white canine - hopping with what appeared to be something in that pad of her paw. "Umm, H-Hello there," Arooix cooed before padding softly towards the injured female "Are you alright - Can i help you?" she asked softly. Concern brimmed in her eyes, hoping that the female would see her as a friend and not a enemy.

Exploring the forest had been fun. Ebony never thought that there could be so...so -much- in the world as he was seeing now. He had only just left the Orchard, and everywhere around him was amazing! He wasn't sure what had brought him to the Forest instead of the River Garden or the Blue Plains, but Silva had mentioned living around here, and so had Nerah...perhaps he would into them today? Leaves crunched in the most marvelous noises under his paws and he grinned, surprised by the feelings of happiness that bubbled up inside them. After finding those dead pods in the Orchard, Ebony reflected, this was exactly what he needed. A new scent- no, two new scents- filled his nose and he paused, tail flicking with interest. Raising his voice, the brown and black feline called. "Hello? Is anyone there?"

Maro had been limping a few minutes before she heard someone finally call back to her. She turned to see who was speaking and saw a black and white canine coming toward her. By the sound of her voice, Maro guessed her new friend was a female like her. "Yes, I have a thorn in my paw and I can't get it out. It really hurts," Maro said, a soft whine still in her voice. The brown canine extended her paw toward the other canine and turned it over so she could see the thorn. "Do you mind pulling it out?" Maro said, and thought she heard someone else's voice in the background, but her senses were numbed by the throbbing coming from her thin-padded paw.

Squinting the two toned canine watched the hurt being in front of her, tears seemed to glaze the females eyes. Tutting to herself, Arooix paced around slowly, pondering how to go by helping the brown furred stranger. All she knew, was that she wouldn't leave her side. If one called out for help, she would help no matter the circumstances. The gravel between her toes was an odd sensation, she was new to the feeling. Once again a foreign sound met her ears. It was a male voice, calling through the trees, requesting if anybody was within. Whimpering, Arooix looked the stranger on the path and the unknown stranger within the woods. The voice seemed friendly, but at this point in time she was more worried about the hurt female.
The whine of the brown toned female alerted her attention. Once she told her the situation of having a thorn in her paw, Arooix understood when she asked her to pull it out. The injured paw shot forwards, blood was dripping from where the needle like object had punctured the flesh. Being newborns and young their paws were not strong enough to with hold the hatred of thorns. Stepping forwards, Arooix layed upon her belly and shuffled to the paw. "Be warned this will hurt," she informed the female while with her fore paw leaned upon the leg so the female wouldn't jerk back. Leaning forwards, Arooix opened her maw and with her teeth grabbed hold of the thorn. A sour taste tainted her lips - the strangers blood. Without a second notice she held and firm bite and yanked upwards hoping the thorn would come with.

Maro wasn't against letting the other canine help her, that is what she had been asking for, but the nervousness that seemed to come from the black and white canine made Maro nervous. Would she just make the thorn hurt worse? Would she make it sink in deeper? That wasn't a pleasant thoughts. She tried not to move as the other canine braced her leg and gripped the thorn. With a jerk, the thorn slipped out but sent fiery pain up Maro's leg, causing her to jerk back out of reflex.
Maro let out a cry when the thorn was pulled free, but the pain faded quickly once there wasn't anything left to cause it. The two toned female pulled her paw back and started licking the wound out of reflex. Her tail started to wag again now that the throbbing pain was leaving. "Thank you," she said between licks, then remembered that she had no idea who this was. "My name is Maro, by the way," she offered her name and hoped the other canine would do the same.

When her maw pulled back, between her teeth was a sharp thorn, blood slid from the tip; falling to the earth. When looking at the paw she had pulled it from Arooix could see the gash. Open and throbbing. Turning her head, she spat the thorn in the bushes. Wrinkling her snout - Arooix realized that blood tasted foul, it was something the disturbed the dog. A cry of pain arose from the thorn-freed female, and then she jerked back. Arooix backed away slowly, leaving room for the female.
Once she started to lick the wound and began to settle down. Arooix watched diligently. When the female thanked her Arooix nodded her head "No problem," Not only that the brown female offered her name - Maro - Arooix took a hesitant breath and supplied her name to Maro as well "My name is Arooix, nice to meet you Maro". Stepping away, she shook herself and looked at the trees. "How does it feel now?" she asked Maro, her voice worried considering she had pulled it out.

Arooix's concern for her was touching, Maro thought as she carefully pressed her paw onto the ground. There was still the last spikes of pain but it wasn't nearly as bad as before. Still, she lifted it again to lick at the wound before replying, "It feels much better, thank you," Maro stepped up and gave Arooix a playful nibble on the ear. "Because I'm curious, did you hear someone else speaking a moment ago too?" Maro looked around for any sign of someone else in their immediate area.
"I think the voice came from over there," Maro said, pointing her nose into the woods, in the opposite direction of where the feline actually was. After getting lost in the woods, it was clear that Maro didn't have a fully accurate sense of direction.

Ebony had been watching the entire procedure in silence. It seemed like the male could handle it, however, so he simply remained where he was in the thicket of trees. Now that the procedure was over, he stepped out, dipping his head in greeting and respect. "My apologies for not coming out sooner" his voice was quiet and pleasant, very respectful. "I didn't wish to disturb the careful procedure" He turned, sniffing at the female's paw. "I hope you're alright? My name's Ebony, by the way" He took a moment to look them over. Both canines, which meant they were bigger than him, the male was grey and white, while the female was brown and white. Despite their increased size, they seemed young, like him. "Are you two newly hatched as well?"

Arooix - the black and white female canine spun to face Maro. Dipping her head in acknowledgment "I'm glad I was able to help," she spoke quietly, in a hushed tone and responded to her next question "Yes, I heard the calling voice as well but I think it was over there". Arooix gestured to the direction where the unknown feline lay hidden. Not moments later, the voice they had heard padded from the shadows. It was a male feline with a deep brown, tabby striped coat. Sighing, Arooix nodded at his explanation of not being in their presence to help with the thorn. Leaning downwards she stretched her limbs and smiled at the cat as he told them his name was Ebony. "Why, hello there Ebony. My name is Arooix," she stated kindly before sitting up right. AT his question Arooix nodded "Yes, I am a newborn.". Twitching her ear, Arooix looked to Maro - she to looked like a hatchling.
What they were to do next she did not know, but she anticipated the company of these two.

Maro blinked when the handsome spotted feline stepped out of the forest and greeted them with an apology. Well, that was nice. Maro smiled and nodded her head, "Yeah, I'm alright. It was only a thorn," she said, ears folding back and the expression on her face making her look cute. She was enjoying the fact she was bigger then Ebony, seeing as her new best friend Antares had evolved not to long ago from a little cat to a huge cat.
When Ebony asked when they hatched, Maro replied quickly, "That's a weird question but yes, I hatched a few weeks ago." She never was to good at thinking of her words before talking. When Arooix introduced herself, Maro did the same, "I'm Maro," she sat down and wagged her tail quickly. "So what brings you two to the forest?" she asked, looking at her two new friends.

"Aroox and Maro" Ebony repeated softly, nodding to them as he tried to match up names with faces. Yes, he believe he could remember that. "A pleasure meeting you both" He flicked an ear at Maro's comment. "A weird comment? Perhaps so, but I was just trying to assess the difference in our ages" Dipping his head lightly "I've only just left the Orchard. I've three sunrises to my name, give or take" The headache that had been bothering him since he and Nerah had met at the Annab tree suddenly intensified, making him stumble. "Sorry" the black spotted feline apologized. "It's this dratted headache. It's been bothering me all m-morn-" he gritted his teeth as the headache suddenly exploded into a burst of throbbing pain all over his body. He yelped, collapsing to the ground. A few agonizing seconds later and the pain went away. He let out a sigh of relief, opening his eyes. "That's funny- weren't you two bigger a second ago?" Congratulations! Ebony has evolved from an Aboriginal to an Occult! --->

Accosting, Arooix bared her body to the left, a sigh of relief breathed from her maw as she heard that the brown and white dog would be alright. Rising a leg to scratch her ear which twitched with a nuisance of an itch, Aroo noted the movement of Ebony. At Maro's question, Arooix simply shrugged slightly "Well, I just wandered and found my way here - and thus I heard your call for help." she explained. The smell of crisp grass blew towards her nose - yet there was something else that the young pup could not place. Wrinkling her brow, she turned when she heard a pained moan from Ebony.
Right before her eyes she watched as the felines bones grew and his fur stretched to fit a new body. This was one thing that Arooix had not expected to see, one thing she was not prepared for. Taking a step back - Arooix lowered her head in a protective growl, 'was this actually the same Ebony I had just met?' she questioned herself. Once the voice developed among the spotted felines maw, Arooix rose from her defensive position. She padded forwards and circled the feline - which had in fact grew larger than both she and Maro. When she came face to face, Arooix's eyes held a worried glaze "Ebony.. How did this happen? Are you feeling okay?" she fretted.
