River nodded at the instruction and moved to where she'd be out of the larger feline's way before starting to dig. She supported her weight with her hind paws while her front paws worked at the dirt wall. Being much smaller than Kayalee, she expected to go at a much slower rate, so she wasn't discouraged when it felt like she was only making scratches. She continued, intent on digging until she wore herself our or until they expanded the den to Kayalee's liking. As she worked, she noticed small clumps of dirt fall, scraped off the wall by her claws. Very gradually, the crumble of dirt in front of her grew into a small pile, and she found herself leaning just a little more while digging.

Kayalee scraped her claws furiously down the wall, watching with satisfaction as dirt began to build up on the bottom of the cave. She pulled herself from the wall and used her tail to sweep the loose dirt to the rock pile, she would discard of the rocks and dirt later. She padded back towards the wall of the cave and extended herself up and began to scratch furiously once more. "How are you doing over there?" Kayalee asked, peering over at the aboriginal feline. She seemed to be doing well enough, she was getting pretty deep into the wall for her size. "Just sweep the loose dirt over to the rock pile when you feel you need to." Kayalee meowed, focusing her attention again on her digging.

River continued her task, her legs starting to ache as more and more dirt fell onto the floor around her. It was getting uncomfortable, but she didn't want to stop. Not yet. She wanted to at least attempt to pull her weight. Kayalee was trusting her to contribute. So far, River thought she'd made a good impression on the larger feline, and she wanted to keep it that way. If it hurt too much, she'd stop, but until hen...
Kayalee asked how she was doing, and River studied the wall. "Not too bad, I don't think." She nodded when the larger feline told her what to do with the dirt. "How deep are we digging?"

Kayalee grunted as her claws slid once again down the tall dirt wall. She took a step back to survey the work. "A few inches in... Yes quite good... Oh mu muscles ache, that young one must be fighting back even more muscle pains..." She murmured to herself. "For now at least I think we have done quite enough digging." She meowed, dusting he loose earth to the rock pile with her tail. Kayalee held back a yawn and stretched her legs. "I'm going to go for a walk to settle my muscles down." She meowed, looking over her should at the young feline. "You have earned a rest, or you may walk with me. Which ever suits you." Kayalee meowed, then quickly added. " Oh, and for helping with the cave I will award you ten tribe experience." She then padded through the corridor an up into the open air.

When Kayalee said they had done enough digging for now, River stopped and brushed the loosened dirt to the rock pile. It didn't feel like enough progress had been made to her, but there were limits to what one could do and the two had accomplished a lot before they even started digging for the day. With their hunting done for the next few days, perhaps they could make even more progress.
River shook her head. "I could use the fresh air. Oh, and thank you." That put her at...thirty-five points now? Was that a lot? Either way, it could only be a good thing. She shrugged off the stray thoughts and waited for Kayalee to exit the hole before stretching and following. A walk, then it may be time for rest. Yes, that sounded lovely.

Kayalee began to pa down a slope which lead to a Tibet which was not to far away from camp, she didn't like water much in this form but she had to bathe an get the dirt which was packed into her fur out somehow. "So, how's your life been since you got out of your pod?" Kayalee asked, glancing over at River, she was interested to hear the young black and white aboriginal's story. When she got to the waters edge she hesitated for a moment then slowly worked herself into the water until she was standing fully in it while it splashed around her paws. "This form makes it so hard to bathe properly." Kayalee grumbled, lowering herself into the water further, she rolled onto her back then quickly stood up and padded from he water, hopefully she had gotten the dirt wet enough so she could lick it out of her fur.

River followed her leader to the water and stopped nearby as Kayalee walked to the water. When she asked how life had been for River she shook her head. "Ordinary? I don't know. It's been good, but I can't see how it'd be different from any normal life. My story's not al that interesting, I know." But that was how it was with her. Nothing special, at least not yet. "What about you?"
She waited where she was while the larger feline bathed - or, rather, attempted to bathe. She seemed rather uncomfortable near the water. So...why was she trying to bathe in it? Did the dirt bother her that much? Well, it wasn't River's business.

"Well my life was pretty ordinary, except for having a run in with The Cult and getting beat up by one of their leaders." Kayalee shrugged. "Oh if that demon could see me now." She growled under her breath. She plopped her rump on the river's edge and began to lick her fur. The dirt slowly loosened itself from her silvery fur. When she had finished her grooming she extended her front paws forward an laid down to continue her story. "After the run in with The Cult I strayed into StarPack's territory." She paused, thinking for a moment. "I'm pretty sure the cult is ls not even know of anymore, the leaders seem to have vanished off the face o the earth..." Kayalee meowed, cocking her head to the side. "I assume that's good news, for The Plains Tribe." Kayalee grunted, stretching out in the sun.

River frowned. "I've had a run in with Silva from StarPack. She seemed really nice. I don't think I've heard of this Cult thing though. Why would they beat anyone up?" Had Kayalee angered them somehow or had they attacked just because they felt like it? She shivered. It probably wouldn't be good for anyone involved if she came upon a Cult member, but Kayalee seemed to think they might have disbanded. Well, if they just attacked creatures randomly, that was probably a good thing. "Maybe they tried to beat someone else up but that someone else won the fight and chased them away from here...or killed them."

"Silva helped my find this place, she's nice, but I wouldn't really say she's a friend. Yet." Kayalee meowed then rolled onto her back to let the sun warm and dry her belly fur. "Apani, one of the leaders beat me up just because I was there. I didn't fight back though, I only fight when I have a reason." She meowed, stretching her legs out, lazing in the sun next to the bubbling river. "They may have died from diseases, run out, or killed by someone else.... I really have no idea." Kayalee meowed thoughtfully. "Oh well." She finished, rolling onto her stomach and lifting herself to her paws. "If gonna walk down the river a little ways, gonna try and catch a fish or two." She meowed, then turned and began to pad away parallel to the shore of the river.

River hissed when she heard the reason for the attack. "Well, if that's how they're going to be, then they deserved whatever they got." A vicious thought, but even River wouldn't attack someone just for being somewhere. For trying to take over tribe territory to stealing food or something like that, sure, but existence wasn't a crime! Well, it didn't matter now. This Apani character, whoever they were, was gone as far as Kayalee knew. There wouldn't be any more trouble. At least, not for now.
River padded after the larger feline, fighting back a yawn. She should go to her nest and rest, she really should, but fishing sounded fun. Surely it wouldn't hurt to at least make a few attempts?

"Yes, they did deserve it." Kayalee agreed, padding further down the river until the pair were at a part of the river where the water turned to rapids and fish leaped around rocks in the river. Kayalee padded to the side of the river and made sure none of her shadow was over the water. She extended a paw towards the river and say frozen in place, only her aqua eyes moving. Suddenly she lashed a paw into the water like a lightning strike and scooped a flopping fish onto the shore and dispatched it quickly with a bite to the neck. "Wanna try?" Kayalee meowed, moving her catch away from the river's shore. She then peered over at the young feline, who seemed to look like she was sleepin on her paws.

River stopped an stared when she saw the fish leaping. It was an amazing sight...and it made her hungry despite the fact she'd just eaten. She watched as Kayalee stood by the river and then lashed a paw into the water and swiped a fish into the land. That...took some skill, she was sure. Still, when Kayalee asked if she wanted to try, she nodded and padded lightly to the water, eager to see if she could do it, too. She tried to mimic the larger feline's actions - making sure her shadow didn't fall on the water and waiting for just the right moment. When a fish was in the perfect location, River swiped, but she had mistimed her move and the fish darted away just a moment before her paw would have hit.
River hissed to herself. That had been clumsy at best!

"Fishing takes a lot of practice, but is greatly rewarded." Kayalee began. "Fish here are large enough to fill three aboriginals bellies." She then started explaining how to fish well. "Well, you need to make sure your shadow does not fall on the river, which you did very well at. Shadows scare the fish away, for pretty obvious reasons." Kayalee took a deep breath, then continued. "You need to make a scooping position with your paw or try and stab it with your claws, I find scooping to be easier." She padded towards the waters edge and meowed. "You need to strike sooner than you think you should, because the water plays tricks with your eyes." She extended her paw in the water and showed River how it looked like her paw was detached from her body. She pulled her paw out. "Now, wanna try again?" She asked.

River dug her claws into the ground, still frustrated that she hadn't made what looked like such an easy catch. Her ears twitched as Kayalee talked, showing she was listening. She blinked when Kayalee said she needed to strike sooner than it seemed and demonstrated that the water distorted everything under the surface. She should have known, she supposed. Well... Whatever. She'd get the next one.
She nodded when she was asked if she wanted to try again and she waited for the next opportunity. When a fish was close enough, she swiped, claws extended. The fish came out of the water, but that had more to do with the fact that River had somehow managed to hook a couple claws into its gills than her being able to hit it hard enough to knock it onto the land. Either way, it was hers. Once she saw that, she brought her paw to the ground - pinning the fish - and bent down to make the killing bite.
River pulled her paw free from the now-dead fish - an act that took two attempts - and stared at the fish. "That was still clumsy."
