Where is it…?
River led her tribe mates through the savanna, keeping an eye out for the snake she had killed earlier. She had originally given it up as lost, since there was no way for her to take it back to the tribe alone, but they had agreed to help her find it and bring it back to feed the clan.
Hopefully, scavengers hadn’t gotten to it, though she didn’t remember seeing any scavengers out and about earlier.
They weren’t far from the lake when she finally saw it, tipped off by the red of the meat before she could pick the dusty hide out from its surroundings. It truly was remarkable how well the snakes blended in, even being as large as they were.
“There!” She sprinted toward the kill. It certainly looked worse for wear, scratched in several places with part of the back split wide open to make the killing blow to the spine, but it was more or less intact. If they could drag it, it would stay in one piece.

Kayalee padded behind River, carefully examining her new surroundings. There was a lot of long grasses, not green like the plains, but yellowish-green and very tall. The area was pretty hilly, not horribly so, but pretty steep in some places. Kayalee saw a glittering lake in the distance, on the side of the lake was his creature, it was gigantic ally long and looked torn up. It must be the snake. Kayalee darted after River when she noticed she had run off, towards the lake. "This is enormous, how did you manage to kill it?" Kayalee meowed, staring at the mangled body of the snake. It was longer than her tail, and probably thicker. "And how will we get it to camp without it falling apart?" Kayalee asked, glancing towards River. Carren fluttered off Kayalee's shoulder and settled himself on the snake and pecked at it, eating little bits of it. Kayalee didn't blame him, she was fairly hungry herself.

Ebony glanced curiously at the area around him. A nice area, he concluded. Nowhere near as nice as the Blue Plains that was his home, but it would do very nicely as a hunting grounds. He rather thought he'd like the idea of coming back to explore it every now and then, however. The snake, once he caught site of its huge mass lying, collapsed, on the ground, made him raise an eyebrow in surprise, that thing was huge! "If we can get it on all our backs- its certainly long enough to fit.." he began, experimentally nosing the huge creature "We can possibly carry it back- or, what am I saying. We're all absondings, aren't we? If we all concentrate, we could possibly just teleport it back." Ebony nosed the creature again experimentally

((Continuing from the Finding Home OOC discussion – I’m fine starting a new thread for us after this if that's what we all wanna do. Nobody's really "finding home" anymore. XD))
“It took some time,” River responded to Kayalee’s question. “I think I might have lost the fight if I hadn’t evolved, to tell the truth. It managed to tire me out a bit and then my timing was shot.” She shivered. “Not a fun thing to go up against.”
Kayalee asked how they were to get it to camp, and Ebony had an answer before she did. She blinked at him. “Is it possible to teleport things besides us?” It certainly wouldn’t hurt to try, at any rate. She watched as he prodded the snake. “It shouldn’t be too hard…one of us can help the other two drape it over their shoulders, and once that’s done whoever isn’t supporting the snake can squeeze between the two that are and help support it from there…”

Kayalee shuddered. "It's a good thing you evolved then!" Kayalee meowed, relieved that she hadn't lost a friend to the snake. "I think we should drag it, we may not be able to teleport for one thing. We also may not all teleport at the same time. Oh, and for another thing, how do we know that the snake will teleport with us all and that we will all arrive at the same time, in the same place." Kayalee rambled. She sighed, staring at the snake, shaking her head. "I just don't know...." She meowed. She nudged Carren with her nose and he fluttered to her shoulder with a caw of irritation. Kayalee wrapped her jaws around the snake and sunk her fangs into the snake's body and pulled. It was heavy, really heavy. She grunted, "It will be hard to drag even if we all drag it." Kayalee meowed.

Ebony nodded as well, fur ruffled at the thought of almost loosing his friend- yet again- to another snake. He still liked the teleporting idea, but Kayalee didn't seem to support it, so he nodded diplomatically. "We don't have to teleport" he agreed with a nod "But I like River's idea for how to drape it over our shoulders- carrying it will be loads easier than dragging it anyways" Carefully, he walked up to the snake, prodding it once to make sure it was dead- better safe than sorry, right? - before grabbing it by the base of its skull.
A bit of venom dripped out of the snake's fangs and Ebony's eyes widened as a thought occurred to him. "If neither of you guys mind" he mumbled through the mouthful of scales "Can I have this snake's head, if you don't mind? I have a few ideas concerning the remaining venom- I may try to whip up a stronger antidote" That said, he lifted the front end a little higher off the ground "Now someone get over here so I can drape this across their shoulders"

((Meesh? What do you think about starting a new tribe thread after this? Either way, do either of you mind if I bring my reptile into the tribe? I already have two charries in StarPack, the tribe does need more members, and Lukasse needs a group.))
River nodded at Kayalee’s words. “I haven’t even teleported once, yet. I’m not sure I could manage to do it willingly.” She watched as the tribe leader attempted to drag the snake, and took a few steps with the intent of helping when Ebony spoke up, wanting to try carrying the snake as she had suggested.
Ebony asked for the snake’s head, and she blinked at him. That was…surprisingly morbid for the creature who disliked taking life of any kind. But then he explained, and she nodded. “I don’t see why not, if Kayalee has no objections. Be very careful, though. We don’t want to lose you.” She padded over, pushing herself under the lifted end of the snake and bracing for the weight.

Kayalee let go of the snake, stretching her jaws since they had become sore from the scales. "I guess carrying it wold be easier." Kayalee meowed and shoved her head under the snake's large body until it slid over her muzzle, forehead, ears, until it settled on her shoulders causing Carren to caw in indignance and flutter to the ground and hopped along the dusty, dirt ground. "Sorry, Carren." Kayalee grunted, then stared at Ebony, curiosity in her eyes. "Sure, you can have the snake's head." Kayalee meowed, then locked her knees to hold the snake up without her legs wobbling from the weight of it. "Ready to go?" She asked.

((Sure, I'm down for it :3))
Ebony nodded his thanks "I'll be careful with it" he promised, nodding towards the skull head before giving his head a flick, sending the front part of the snake's body high enough into the air for Ebony to dart under it, grunting as the snake landed with a thud back on his shoulders. Finally, all three felines were udner it. Ebony looked at River, commenting "I'm still impressed you managed to kill something this big" he commented with a grunt "I wouldn't want anything near this big hanging around the tribe- especially not if we get any aboriginals or kits joining in the future" he glanced over in worry, suddenly remembering his duties "Oh, did you get hurt? I'm sorry, I should have asked back when I was at the medicine den in camp"

((All right. I’ll introduce her as soon as we make our new thread back home. ^.^))
The other two moved under the snake, supporting its weight across three sets of strong shoulders. Even with the weight being shared, it was still heavy, and River was glad that home wasn’t too far off. It occurred to her that they’d look ridiculous to any passers-by, but that was okay. Said passers-by didn’t just gain an impressive amount of meat.
If they could pull this off.
She purred at the compliment. “Thanks. It wasn’t easy. I agree, but I think these things only inhabit dry areas. The plains isn’t exactly a wetlands, but it should be lush enough to make such a creature uncomfortable there.” When he asked if she got hurt, she shook her head. “Just some bruising, I think. I should be okay after a few days.”
