((It's fine Ree :3))
Ebony watched the canine push the rocks, marveling at how strong she was. Would he be able to do that one day too, he wondered? Or was it just a canine thing? But ah well, he was getting a little distracted here. "If we put the smaller rocks on the bottom, it'll form a barrier between the bodies and the rest of the growth. And the larger rocks on top means that others won't be able to move them and find the bodies" he suggested. Well, unless there were creatures ever bigger than Nerah and Silva, but he doubted it. They were so huge, it was impossible to even imagine anything even huger.
He dropped his rocks into the hole, then jumped down after them to pat them into the dirt, creating a wall, of sorts. One pawful down, a million more to go.
Then a thought occurred to him. The feline looked up. "Uh, how do I get out of this hole?"

She nodded when he responded. "Bigger rocks on top, it is." This was the unlikeliest spot she knew of where a creature would got o discover the bodies, but best not take chances. She picked up some more rocks and jumped into the hole to place them as Ebony did the same. She leapt back out and went for another mouthful when the feline spoke, asking how he was to get out. She hadn't thought about how the size difference would make things harder for him - being a feline, she figured he was better at jumping out of things than she was.
"Hm... I'll be right back." She ran off, returning a little later with a severed but otherwise healthy branch, which she angled into the hole to form a slope of sorts for him to climb up. "Will that work?"

Ebony nodded in relief, clawing his way up to the branch and back onto solid ground. "Thanks" An older, more expierienced, feline might have been able to make the jump, but considering he was still getting use to walking, he doubted he could have made it. Perhaps he could practice his jumping after this, he mused, and eventually grow better at it. It seemed like a useful thing to know, and his hind legs twitched as if they wanted to show of their skill and jump. Now that the bottom and sides of the hole was covered in rocks, Ebony sighed. Time for the hard part- moving the pods and wood from their location to the hole. "I'll move the pods, you start rolling the rocks?" he suggested. He gladly would have switched positions with Nerah, but he knew he wasn't big enough to even budge those rocks.

She wagged her tail at his thanks. "No problem. I'll have to move it when we're ready to bury things, but by then we won't need it anymore."
The two worked together covering the hole with rocks, and - eventually - it was time for the pods and wood. When the feline suggested he take care of that while she move the rocks, she blinked. "Are you sure? I'd be willing to help with the pods and do the rocks." She didn't want him to have to work so closely with the unborn creatures if he didn't want to, but if he was really willing to do it on his own, she wouldn't stop him.

Ebony nodded in determination. "The sooner we get this done, the better, right?" he asked. "And I can't move the rocks, so this is the best way to do it" he leaned up to give the big canine a brief nuzzle before turning and bounding back towards the Annab tree. Once there, he braced himself on his hind paws, shuddering once before he grabbed a smaller pod under his chin and rolling another, undeveloped one on the ground in front of him. I'll need a bath after this he thought, conveniently forgetting that he didn't even know what a bath was. Reaching the hole, he dropped both pods in, before turning and attempting to pull out the stick, failing miserably because he was so small.

She nodded at what he said. "Thank you. Yes, let's get this done." She returned the nuzzle and watched him a moment before pushing the bigger stones closer to the hole. She then waited, listening and then watching as the feline carried the pods. When she saw it was only two pods he had, she ran back the way they had come, grabbing the rotten wood and bringing it back to dump it into the hole as well. He had said he'd do it, but he was right, it was better to get this done quick, and she had nothing to do until they had everything else in the hole.
When she got back, she noticed him trying to pull up the stick. She stepped up beside him and grabbed it, helping to pull it out.

"Thanks" Ebony said in gratitude and some embarrassment, stepping away to let Nerah finish pulling the stick out. "I'll get bigger soon" he promised, standing up to his fullest height. "It's just a matter of time, but I promise I will!" And he meant it too. He wasn't sure exactly how one evolved, but if Silva could have done it twice, perhaps he could manage it at least once? And Nerah looked to be even bigger than Silva! Perhaps she evolved three times? How many times did one evolve?
Now that the wood and the pods were set in their place, and the tick pulled out, all that was left was to roll the bigger rocks on top. He would no longer be of any use. "I think I've helped all I could. I think I'm ready to leave the Orchard now" he dipped his head to the older canine. "But it was nice meeting you, Nerah. We'll meet again under better circumstances, and I'll be a lot bigger then, you just wait!" He lifted his head to give the canine another nuzzle before he turned his head and was off, bounding towards the Maple Forest "Bye!"

"You don't need to worry about that." Nerah giggled. "I'm sure you'll be plenty big when the time comes."
The feline then left, having helped all he could. Nerah wagged her tail. "Yes, go out and have some fun, and try to forget about this dreaded situation. I'm sure we'll meet again in a happier time. Take care, now." She watched him leave and then got to work, pushing the bigger rocks on top of the hole and then filling it with the dirt she displaced. She sat there for a moment, and then went off and pushed another large stone toward the mound where the pods and wood were buried, resting it beside the hole. Her task done, she felt exhausted...and her heart hurt in ways she didn't know it could. She lay down by the grave, giving the pods the only company they've ever had apart from each other. When she felt she had honored them as much as she could, she would leave them to the peaceful rest they deserved.
