"You're welcome sweetheart," Antares purred as Shadow finished the fruit and intertwined himself between his legs. He curled his tail around his paws, leaving a warm, safe cavern between his paws. Although it was already warm, and had always been safe in the Orchard. His parental instincts were just kicking in at an odd time he supposed.

"Would you like to see your home?" Antares dipped his neck down at an odd angle to get a partial view of his kit. As peaceful as the Orchard was, they couldn't stay forever, and the den was the next best place to be. He was sure Nerah would like to meet their kit anyhow.

Silva practically stared "aaaaaw"ing to see Shadow twine himself between Antares's paws and the feline move his tail to protect the little mix. "You're so cute together" she said to her mate, nudging him playfully. "How come you weren't so protective when we were kids, eh?" flashing a smile to show she was just teasing, Silva peeked between Antares's front legs to look at Shadow, tail wagging, "How about it then?"

Shadow poked his head out of his makeshift cavern, regarding Silva curiously. "My home? Isn't it this place?" he glanced around at the Orchard, enclosed in a fence, and craned his head upwards, trying to see beyond the Orchard. "I didn't know there was more to this place than there already was. Can we go?"

Antares chuckled at her comment, giving her a soft nuzzle when she nudged him. Of course they were cute, anything would be cute with Shadow, he was a real cutie. "Well none of you could sit between my paws, I was the smallest of the bunch of us. I've always been protective, I just never had to show it." he retorted playfully.

"We have a home in the forest over there," he pointed with his muzzle to the orange line of trees in the distance, standing out next to the blue plains next to it. "Yes, we certainly can!" he smiled down in his pup and picked him up by the scruff once more, tossing him up on his broad shoulders. The feline figured the trip would be faster if Shadow was carried.

Silva laughed at the image of one of them trying to climb under Antares's paws. "Especially when you hadn't evolved yet and I was in my first form- just imagine how difficult -that- would be" she chuckled. "You'd end up sitting on me" Grinning as she saw Shadow settled comfortably on his father's neck, she began trotting towards the edge of the orchard. "Onwards, then~"

Shadow squealed in excitement as he suddenly found himself lifted into the air, settling comfortably on his father's shoulders. "You're huge!" he exclaimed, using his paws to brace himself (while doing hi best not to hurt Antares) "Will I ever be that big?" he asked, questions suddenly flying to his mind. He nearly slurred his words in order to ask them all at once. "That's the forest, but are there other places beyond that? How old are you and mommy? What's the forest like? What is a forest?"

Antares laughed at the mental image of any of the pack trying to hide under him of all, he was always the most quiet about conflict. Although if someone would have been trying to hurt his friends he wouldn't think twice about teaching the offender a lesson, a very painful one. No one messes with the ones he cares about, and if they do he will give them a permanent reminder to never do it again. Especially in his evolved form, his claws would deal heavy damage to even an absconding canine.

"I am?" he chuckled as his son settled himself comfortably on his shoulders, griping his paws around his neck. "Maybe someday, we'll just have to wait and see." he chuckled and listened carefully to the mix's question so that he could answer them correctly. "There's many places beyond there, yes. I've never gone past the forest though, as I'm most at home there. We're some of the oldest felines and canines here, so rather old. It's beautiful, the trees are many shades of orange, it's home. A forest is an area covered in trees and undergrowth, you'll see soon enough." he trotted after Silva, keeping an even pace.

Silve chuckled, leaning over to nuzzle her son before licking Antares on the cheek. "Did we ask that many questions at his age? At least he's a curious one." Anticipating her son's question just as he opened his mouth, Silva added "Curious means you want to know a lot about the world around you" Shadow blinked at her. "In that case, I'm very curious!" he proclaimed loudly, trying to stand up on his fathers shoulders, but quickly moving back into a crouch as the wobbling motion of his father's walking grew a bit too unsteady for his still newlyfound paws.

It didn't take long for them to reach the forest, it being right near the Orchard. Shadow's eyes grew big as he took in the new world around him, with all its new sights and smells and sounds. Carefully sliding off his father's back, the mix announced. "I can make it walking to our home myself, just you watch me!" prancing ahead of his parents for a few feet before stopping and turning, realizing he had no idea which direction they were supposed to be going

He inhaled contently as his paws made the familiar crinkling sound as they hit the leaves of the forest. Shadow slid off his back and began romping in the wrong direction of the den, he nearly had it though. "Over this wa-" the feline saw a familiar flash of white near the mix's hind leg, buried halfway in the foliage. "Oh no you don't!" his paw shot forward, sending a forest viper flying a few feet into the nearest tree with a significant thump. Without hesitation he pounced on it, severing its highly venomous head from its body after a moment of struggling, "I don't like snakes." Antares picked up the fat body of the viper after burying its head in the leaves and trotted in the direction of the den, careful to not show the nasty bite he'd received on the inside of his leg from it. Silva froze when she saw the familiar white flash, about to pounce. She barely moved, however, before a streak of black dove in front of her and killed the snake with a quick paw. She growled, shocked at how close Shadow had come to being bitten. The mix, unperturbed, stared at the remains of the snake with wide eyes. "What's that?" Silva quickly walked over, covering the mix with licks and nuzzles. He squealed and jumped out of her pawsreach. "Those are forest vipers. You'll recognize them by that flash of white on their noses. Never go near one, as they're extremely dangerous, and above all, don't let them bite you" she bit her lip before adding, "Here, maybe you ride up on my back a bit" The mix blinked at her a moment before nodding, clawing his way up to her back "Alright Mommy"

Now that Shadow was safe, Silva practically sprinted towards Antares, nuzzling him in relief and concern. "Are you alright? Did it bite you at all?"

He was glad to have taken the bite instead of Shadow, they've been known to kill aboriginals with their venom. Occults and Abscondings, being significantly bigger, didn't die from the poison but would fall ill. It was all worth it in his mind though, better him than his son. He knew of a patch of grey creepers along the route that he could pick up and sedate himself with in case the symptoms proved too much for him to handle. "I'll be fine~" he mustered up a purr and nuzzled her, looking down on his bitten leg. He gave her a mildly pained look, hoping she'd keep quiet about it. If she freaked out, Shadow would too and that's the last thing anyone needed. [/style]

Silva, catching the look, calmed down, though a flash of understanding filled her gaze. She licked Antares on the cheek once, mouthing 'where?' to him before announcing cheerfully. "We're right about here, Shadow! It's safe this close to the den, so you can walk the rest of the way if you want" The mix promptly slid off Silva's back, sniffing. "Is it that way? I can smell....lots of scents, mixed together, kind of like one huge mashed up scent." Silva chuckled "Yes, that's the pack scent. I don't think anyone's home now, but you can look around the den area if you want" Shadow was promptly off, stumbling ahead of his parents towards the den- in the correct direction, this time. Silva, still trotting along cheerfully and keeping a sharp eye on her son, scootched until her pelt was brushing Antares's as they walked. "Can you make it back to the den?" she asked in an undertone.

It had noticeably began swelling and it burned as if his leg was ablaze. The feline grinned softly as the pack's familiar scent wafted from the den area, it was nice to be home again. The feline kept pace with Silva, it hurt to put pressure on his leg, but he didn't mind too much. "It's not like my leg fell off!" he joked, pain couldn't take his sense of humor away. He stumbled and fell onto his side when he took a more heavy stride on his bitten leg, grunting when he landed. "Uh, you saw nothing." he rolled back to his feet, leaning some of his weight onto her as he trotted forward. The feline snagged a large clump of the grey creepers that grew just outside of the den, he knew for a fact he was going to need them, and continued into the clearing of the den. [/style]

Shadow pranced into the den,sniffing around at everything, keeping up a steady stream of "What's that? What's this? What's this?" as he pointed at everything with his muzzle. Silva glanced at Antares's already-swelling leg, only the narrowing of her eyes giving way to her concern. She smiled at his attempts at humor "Really? I never would have guessed" wincing when he stumbled. It didn't take long to reach the entrance to the stony underground cave that was the den. "Shadow" Silva called to the mixed, who was already curled up inside the den. "You get some sleep, alright? There's some moss on the ground, just curl up wherever's comfortable" She paused an the entrance. Silva had only been inside the cave once or twice since the evolution to Absonding, finding that prolonged stays inside the den made her sweaty and uncomfortable. But if Antares needed her... She looked over at her mate "Shadow will be asleep awhile. Want me to come in with you in case you need anything?"

I bump my head on the roof of the chamber I prefer to sleep, and don't want to expand it yet." Antares ducked in the den for a moment and came back out with a mat of moss that would serve fine as a nest if he covered it with some of the feathers that weren't being used in the den already. He set the moss down by the entrance and piled the feathers on top. "There's room for us both, if you care to join me tonight." he gave her a loving smile before laying on the heap and chewing up the creepers that would knock him out. They didn't taste fantastic, but he didn't mind if they'd put him to sleep. [/style]

Silva smiled as Antares dragged out a bed of moss. "Of course I'll stay with you", nuzzling her mate gently before curling up next to him on the moss. She had a feeling Antares was partially staying out here for her benefit, and was pretty grateful for and proud of her mate. Shadow, awakened by his parents movements, quickly sprang to his feet and scampered in between them, wiggling until he was right between the two, and falling asleep again almost immediately. Silva smiled gently, licking her young one on the head before curling up with him and Antares. "You'll make a great father, you know" she murmured lightly to her mate, eyes once again growing heavy with sleep.

That and he just really adored her presence. He licked Shadow between the ears as he settled in between them, seemingly already asleep. "And you a fantastic mother." his purr made his words hardly understandable. He curled into a tight ball with his muzzle buried in the soft orange feathers of the nest. The grey creepers didn't take long too take effect, his loud purr faded out as he fell into a deep, dreamless sleep after a few minutes. [Since the thread is done, I'm going to archive it.] [/style]
