Kyran remained unimpressed when Mike's tail waved back and forth. That really wasn't even wagging, actually it made him seem vaguely annoyed. "Well you see, when I am happy, excited, or want to play my tail just naturally wags, I don't even have to think about it, it's just what it does. I can move it at will as well though." Kyran then demonstrated moving his tail up and down instead of sideways. "I guess it probably is just a difference between our two species. The same way in how I'm bigger than most of the newly hatched Felines. A lot of the older ones are bigger though." Kyran finished off the last bit of his food and then rolled over so he was lying on his back. With his toll lolling out of his mouth and his paws tucked against his body he probably looked quite comical. Sometimes he just felt like lying on his back, and this was one of them.

Mike tilted his head. Species, canines, felines, well now he could stop calling everything creatures and things. He could guess which was which he supposed. Perhaps, it was just that he liked the sound of it, but he was fairly certain he was the feline. But canine was a nice word as well. He nodded. The older ones were so much bigger. He wondered if they too would grow and change that way. Would it be all of a sudden, or really slow? How much easier would it be to travel if her were Ebony's size, or even Kyran's. He smiled as his friend rolled over on his back, wondering why he might do such a thing and then realizing, there was no better way than to find out. So he rolled onto his back too and was surprised by all the different parts of him that stretched. It felt really nice actually, but he rolled back onto his belly soon enough. "What do we do with the rest of it?" he asked, staring at what was left of the feathered prey.

"Well if you don't want anymore I guess I could finish it," Kyran replied, "I don't like to waste food so if I kill something I make sure to eat all of it." he really didn't like the animals who ate food and then just left it there to waste. Other things ate on it, but it left a bad taste in Kyran's mouth. Something about the fact that he had killed the animal and the least he could do was honor it by making sure he didn't waste what the animal left. There was some stuff he couldn't eat but that was completely different. Kyran rolled back over and slowly stood up stretching the whole time. Then he shook making sure he didn't have a whole bunch of stuff stuck to his fur. he hated when that happened. He really did love to be clean. His white fur was white because he made sure to keep it clean by going in the water.

Mike nodded. That made sense. He really couldn't eat much more than he had. Even though he'd killed it accidentally that was even more of a reason not to let it go to waste though. "Okay, it's yours," Mike replied calmly. Looking around, he saw that it was really getting dark now. He wondered briefly why it did that, and thought that maybe it was because it knew it was hard to sleep with the lights on so bright. Mike found himself yawning, jaws stretched wide, taking in the early evening ear. It had been a long and exhausting day and he'd learned so much in it. He turned to look at the den, which would be really big if it were just for him, but thinking of how large Kyran was, he asked "You really think it'll fit us both?"

Kyran nodded and walked over to the bird, there really wasn't that much edible stuff left. He quickly scarfed the rest down and then let out a ginormous yawn. "The den should fit both of us, but if it doesn't I can always dig it out a little bit so it does." He thought it would fit both of them, and then was a spot he couldn't easily fit into, but it should be a perfect fit for Mike. It really wouldn't be a big deal at all to expand it though. He was getting tired but it wouldn't be that much effort to fix it up. "First before we fix it up I think I need to get some water. How about you?" His throat and started to get a little dry and it was one of his least favorite feelings. Eventually it would start to it, but if he itched it all he would do was make the outside sore. That was one lesson he had learned the hard way and he had no desire to repeat it.

Mike watched sleepily as Kyran finished off what was left of the bird. At the digging comment, Mike glanced down at Kyran's paws, which were larger and more suitable for digging, though Mike would help if it came to that. They could try it out first though. His ears perked at the mention of water. "Yes," he replied, getting up and stretching his back so that it arched high into the air. Then he did the opposite, so he was stretched out thin and his belly was brushing the ground and his rear and tail were way in the air. He yawned and shook his head, then trotted lightly back toward the river, since he knew of no other source of water. "So if you crossed the river, and you've seen fish, you must know how to swim right?" Mike asked, striding alongside him.

"Yes, I do know how to swim. I quite enjoy it really. It's also how I keep clean." Kyran paused to let out another yawn. "So do you know how to swim?" He wasn't sure exactly how he caught the fish bit he assumed it had something to do with swimming. Maybe he was so good at swimming he could swim underwater! Kyran had tried that once and it hadn't felt very good. It had actually hurt quite a lot. Although he could dip his head under and grab stuff if he was fast. Once he had even gotten a shiny rock out of the water. Only once the water was gone it wasn't very good looking. Thankfully they hadn't been very far from the river and he quickly began lapping up water. If he could have sighed while drinking water he would have. the cool water felt amazing going down his throat.

Mike nodded proudly. "Yep, Ebony showed me. He said I picked up on it really quickly." he explained, obviously fond of his first mentor. "But I have to be cautious though. Because I'm not very big and I need to build muscle before I can swim without getting tired too fast." The water looked different this late out. It looked darker and more foreboding, but when he leaned over sniffed it, it still smelled good. He lapped it up tentatively but it still tasted the same, cool and soothing. He drank for a long time. When he was done, his prominent chin was drenched with water too and he grinned to see that Kyran's was the same. Playfully, he shook himself so the droplets went flying everywhere. But it wasn't long until he was yawning and longing to go to sleep.

"I think you're even more tired than I am so let's head off to the den. yeah?" Kyran said in amusement. Poor Mike looked like he was about to fall over. Kyran could probably with some energy carry him if that happened, but he really didn't feel like it. So he starting walking back to the den. He was really glad the den was so close because even the slow seconds were making him even more and more tired. At this time of day Kyran was actually almost invisible. It was dark enough that his black fur blended in and there wasn't any shining light from the moon yet so his white fur was dark and grayed. If he hadn't been so tired and already have eaten this would have been the prefect time to go hunting. As it was he hadn't had his afternoon nap so he was ready to go to sleep. He really hoped the den was going to be large enough because he wanted to drop into sleep and not dig at all. "We forgot the feathers." he mused quietly, "guess we'll have to grab them in the morning." he really didn't feel like going and getting them.

Mike yawned and trailed behind Kyran. He was hard to see, but Mike could hear him and smell him. With no moonlight peering through the thick canopy, even Mike's pale cream (although it was actually a lot dirtier by now and almost a light brown) was dark and didn't stand out much. He was vaguely aware of what Kyran was saying about the feathers, so he nodded, but then he realized Kyran was walking in front and couldn't see him nod. "Okay....if the wind doesn't blow them away." Even if the wind did blow them away, he had every intention of tracking them down. That orange-feathered prey had been his first land creature kill and he wanted something to remember the unlucky bird by. As they neared the den, Mike leaned towards the entrance and gave a wary sniff. Aside from Kyran he didn't smell much except woods and leaves. Deeming it safe, he crawled in beside him, towards a crevice too small for his larger friend to slip. "Good night, Kyran." Mike yawned and added in a sleepy murmur. "I'm glad we can be friends."

Kyran's tail wagged slightly in happiness. He was too tired to get too excited about it. He crawled in curling up into a ball. "Good night Mike. I'm happy we are friends as well." He was really tired but there was something nagging at his thought. Oh when he had said the thing of the feathers he thought there might have been a flash of worry or something from Mike. That would explain why he couldn't sleep. He was afraid he had made the wrong decision. He turned his attention to Mike's breathing and he did sound like he was sleeping. As quietly as he possibly could he slipped out of the den. Once out of the den he stretched slightly and then took off following their scent trail from earlier. Once he reached the bird he pulled off even more feathers, and grabbed the feathers already pulled. Then he turned around and went back to the den. he approached quietly putting careful effort not to step on anything that would make noise. Once he was in the den he laid the feathers down next to Mike then he curled back up feeling much better. Now he felt comforted hoping Mike would be happy once he woke up, and now that he was content he quickly drifted off to sleep. It was a talent of his, falling asleep very quickly, little did he know not everybody has it.

Mike gave a slight smile, but sleep tugged it down quickly. His thoughts were already becoming thick and heady. He was on the brink of sleep when he felt a sudden draft, opening his eyes in the darkness he looked for some sign of the pale fur of Kyran's underbelly or legs. Even with his eyes stretched wide to take in every speck of light, he didn't see anything. He was just about to call out for him when he heard someone approaching. Shutting his eyes and pretending to sleep, he noticed that the sent was Kyran's. Then he truly had nothing to fear, but he kept his eyes closed just the same. He felt something soft brush against him. It's scent too was familiar. Opening his eyes, he squinted at the faintly lit orange feathers. He smiled once more, for he took this as evidence of what would be a long friendship. With that in mind, Mike drifed off to sleep and had very pleasant dreams.

Kyran felt his mind slowly waking up, and he opened his eyes. For a moment he nearly forgot where hew as but the he saw Mike and remembered all of the previous day's events. He didn't want to wake Mike up so he crept out of the den and then began stretching, and oh it felt very nice. He had actually woken up early considering how tired he had been. The light was only starting to filter back into the forest. Before he did anything though he needed to get some water, he was always thirsty in the mornings and then hungry. As he trotted over to the stream or as Mike had called it he river, he enjoyed the cool morning air. Although not as nice as in the evening the morning was nice. He had reached the water and was greedily drinking when he heard an odd noise. It was faintly squeaky and sounded distressed. Crouching down he practically glided across the forest floor going to investigate the noise, what he found made him lick his lips hungrily.
There was a long and slim animal not overly large but good sized, and it appeared to be having a slight problem in that it had smelled him most likely and ran to it's den only judging by the stronger smells of the creature coming from a different direction it had run the wrong way. Well, that was just fine with him, springing forward he caught the creature making short work of it. Then judging by how much Mike had eaten of the bird the ate a good amount. The rest he could take back to the den for Mike. Once he reached the den he dropped the rest of the prey in front of the den. Now he could lay out here and enjoy the morning sun while he waited for Mike to wake up.

Mike stirred slowly, first adjusting to get more comfortable and then yawning and uncurling a bit. Something soft brushed against his nose and he lifted his eyelids lazily. He was staring a couple of the pretty feathers from before. Slowly his memories of earlier returned to him and he yawned again and smiled, looking around for Kyran. But the canine was not in the den. Not prone to panic, Mike crawled out of the small nook only he had fit into and stretched out as he climbed into the open. Morning light was as bright as it had been the day he was born and in the distance he saw Kyran returning, but he was carrying something long and strange. Taking a few steps to meet him, he tilted his head. "What is that?" he mused aloud.

"This is for you. I'm usually hungry in the mornings and I figured you would be as well. I already ate some so the rest is all yours." Kyran really hoped Mike was hungry, "I'm not actually sure what it is, I just know it is some sort of prey animal." The only problem with being newly hatched or at the very least recently hatched was that he didn't know exactly what the things were called. Maybe it would be a good idea for Mike to learn from Ebony whoever exactly that was. Maybe Kyran could even find somebody to mentor him. That could wait though, and he would wait to ask Mike what he wanted to do until he had ate something, providing he was actually hungry. Maybe later in the day they could go swimming, once it had warmed up. He thought Mike had said something about needing to strengthen his muscles and get even more used to swimming. Kyran was fairy certain he could save Mike if he needed help, but the could stick the areas where the water came in a bit to form a current free little pool.
