Ebony chuckled, gaze already turning back to the banks, where his paw darted out to nab and kill another fish. "Like this" the feline gently explained, sinking his teeth into his own kill. Tearing off a chunk of flesh, Ebony pointedly swallowed the bit before leaning down to take another bite. "Sink your teeth in and tear, then chew and swallow." Ebony declared once he was done with his fish. The feline was so big and the fish so small that it took no more than a few bites, then Ebony was already delicately cleaning off his paw and licking off the fishy scent. Once the feline was remotely clean, he padded over to Mike and gently began licking dry the fur on the kit's back and shoulder. "You should lick yourself dry after coming out of the water." Ebony explained between licks, training as a medic taking over in his businesslike tone. "Big guys like me can stand staying wet for a while, but with fur as short as yours you can catch a cold pretty quickly- and you should finish up that fish, so I can teach you how to catch a few of your own."

Following Ebony's lead, Mike took his first actual bite of fish and was surprise by the difference in flavor. It wasn't very strong, but he liked it all the same, Barely had he swallowed the first bite than he was onto the next, chewing and swallowing just as quickly, but on the third bite, he was met with a sharp crunch. Startled, he pushed a sharp little fish bone out of his mouth. He didn't have to be told that swallowing something like that would hurt, so he he started eating more slowly. Being much smaller than Ebony, Mike was actually full as neared the end of the tasty fish. It was around this time that Ebony set about drying his fur, and Mike was confused at first, but as Ebony explained, He nodded in agreement. "I am pretty cold..."Mike began to help by licking his own paws and forelegs dry. "I don't think I can each much more without bursting," Mike explained, though his fish was little more than bones, a chunk or two of meat, and a tail by now anyway. Suddenly aware of how much help Ebony had given him when they'd just met, Mike thanked him with a smile "Thank you for all of this...without you I might have tried to walk across the river all on my own."
