"A wasteland.... That sounds interesting.... There may be new creatures there and herbs I can bring back for Ebony!" Kayalee meowed, padding next to Antares. Kayalee's pace sped up involuntarily as she saw the beginnings of the wastelands. She slowed when she heard Antares's question. "The only time my ability worked was when I saw a vision of The Plains Tribe's camp." Kayalee meowed, with a shrug. "I guess the ability only works when it knows what you really desire." Kayalee meowed, in a tone wiser than her years. Kayalee took in a long smell of air, the sweet smell of grass was receding and in place of that was the smell of dry dirt and the feel of dry air. Kayalee coughed, "I don't know if I'll like this place much...." She meowed, her tail drooping.

The flat land was easy to walk on, but he liked feeling texture under his feet. Not just caked, dry sand. Tiny rodents ran from them as they trotted on, their tiny size fascinated him immensely.
"Yeah, I just really want to know what the use of every plant is, so it comes easy to me that way." he choked on his voice for a moment, he wasn't quite used to the dryness. The forest's air was what he was used to, which tended to be very moist. "It doesn't seem to be too thick, we should be out soon enough." [/style] |

"I guess so." Kayalee meowed, hoping the adventure would come to a peak when the traveled through this barren, empty place. Kayalee's step quickened until they were at the edge, almost there, almost there! As the pair set paw into the new land Kayalee's excitement surged up and suddenly without a warning she was on the ground, writhing with pain. She yowled in terror as fiery pain surged throughout her body. Suddenly it was over. She stood up, everything looked smaller. "My head..." She groaned, lifting a paw to her head, which throbbed because of the abrupt change. "Wait a second... Did I evolve again?!?!" Kayalee looked down her side and across her back to her now lengthy tail. She gasped in surprise. "Just like Ebony, can't wait to show him!" Kayalee meowed, partly to herself.
CONGRATULATIONS, OCCULT KAYALEE HAS EVOLVED INTO ABSCONDING KAYALEE!!

Antares jumped a good three feet in the air when Kayalee yowled. He thought she got attacked by something at first, but realized what was happening the moment he turned around. She was evolving, which still shocked him, he was curious as to what the final evolution for felines was.
Her evolution was quick, significantly quicker than his, which took minutes. She was done only after half a minute, now a massive, long furred creature. Despite her size, she looked much less intimidating, gentler, in this new form. "Well that was unexpected. I'm going to go ahead and assume you're fine after my experiences with Nerah and Silva's evolutions." he sat down on the hard ground with a thump and waited for her to get her bearings back.

Kayalee took a deep breath then sat in front of Antares, it felt weird having to look down to talk to him. "Yes... I'm fine." Kayalee meowed, trying to slow her racing heart. Kayalee collapsed, letting her front paws shoot out in front of her, almost slamming into Antares. She lifted her back slightly and hopped backwards, pulling her now laying down body back. She sighed. "I'm so tired.... And hungry..." Kayalee groaned. "That's the worst part...." She lifted her head and sniffed at the air, hoping she could smell something... She wanted prey so badly. She smelt nothing... "Ugh... Of course nothing.... This is a wasteland after all." Kayalee meowed to herself. She pulled herself back into a sitting position. "So, what now?" Kayalee asked, looking expectantly at Antares.

"Good, good." he chuckled, flinching when she almost slammed into him. A flat look crossed his face as she laid down, they'd get nowhere if she wanted to nap. They didn't know what was out here, it would be dangerous to be taking breaks and not getting the hell out of there. He dropped his pouch and began trying to pull out one of the fat, round objects threatening to crack it open, also pulling out some of the crunchy pods, and white creepers he stowed away earlier.
"Well I guess it's good I keep one of everything with me, eh?" he rolled a large brown fruit and tossed the other plants at her. They surely wouldn't fill her stomach, but it would help, and the pods would give her the energy to travel to wherever they ended up and found other food.

Kayalee's mouth started to water when Antares presented the plants. "It is a good idea to always come prepared, I should have brought some of that buck with me." She meowed, the last half of her statement really to herself. She began to gnaw on the different plants. The tastes intrigued her, so many different flavores packed into the small plants. It was almost better than meat. Almost. "Thank you, Antares." She meowed after she had finished the various plants he had given her. "Shall me continue on?" Kayalee meowed, slowly pulling herself to her paws. She looked towards the barren lands in front of her, there were so many things there just waitin to be discovered.

Those are enormous, congrats on taking it down. I don't eat meat, so I only carry plants on me. The big brown fruit has similar nutritional properties of meat, so I rely on those to keep me alive for the most part." he crunched on some of the pods himself, tempted to eat the second fruit he had, but he'd need it later, so he managed to resist.
"My pleasure. I agree that we should keep going." he rose back to his feet and crammed the mess of plants back into the pouch and placed in on his back once more. he wished he had a way of slinging it around his neck with some sort of vine, but his paws wouldn't be suited for such delicate work. The feline began a quick paced trot towards what looked like hill out in the distance. Possibly there was a savanna beyond here. [/style] |

Kayalee shrugged. "It was me as an occult, River, another Occult, and Ebony, an absconding. It wasn't very hard." Kayalee meowed, then he realized she sounded pretty cocky with that statement. "Well, it was harder than most prey is to catch." She added, even though it was a pretty obvious statement. "If you don't mind me asking, why does hunting bother you so much? I mean it's a food chain thing and our bellies are made for meat." Kayalee asked as she began to pad after Antares, letting him lead by a few paces. What he does with those plants is almost like what we do with the deer pelt... Kayalee thought, staring at the little pouch on his back.

"Oh, okay. That makes more sense, I was assuming you took it down on your own. I forget you have your tribe to help you with that." he shrugged. "Killing another living, healthy creature weighs on my conscience. I can't help but think about how I would feel if a predator hunted me, or someone I love down for food. I try to only kill if something is threatening me or my family, but I catch the fish from the River Garden on occasion, as they don't seem to show any signs of being intelligent or feeling pain." he let a long breath out. Rarely did others understand him about why he ate plants. [/style] |

Kayalee could understand Antares's reasoning, to a point. "I guess if you put it that way it makes hunting seem rather cruel." Kayalee meowed. "But I could never give up the feeling of having soft, tender meat in my belly..." She sighed, longing for some of that buck. Yet there is no point in longing for what you don't have so have padded along silently. "The idea of having a child interests me, how does one accomplish this feat?" Kayalee asked, changing the subject. Not knowing her parents, if she had any, she had no way of knowing what to do if it ever came to her having a child.

I have nothing against those who hunt to survive; that's what we're built for. I'm just different about it, it was never 'normal' to me, and I never liked doing it. Kind of like how we were all born with knowledge of certain things - such as the will to hunt for survival - I was born with the will to find another way to survive. And I did." Antares, he was sure she though he was nuts by now, which he wouldn't deny. Even he thought he was mad sometimes, but wasn't everyone at least a bit insane?
"Hmm? Oh, you have to sleep under one of the trees in the orchard - the ones each of use came from - with someone you intend to have a child with. I think it only works if the both of you know about what you're doing, as I slept under one of the trees with Yamir when I was young and didn't know what sleeping under the tree meant but nothing happened, so yeah." he trotted across the barren land, this place was eerie and desolate. He didn't like it one bit.
A horrified screech was hear in the distance ahead, and then another and another. It scared the hell out of him, sending him scrambling into a run towards the noises. Whatever was out there, whether it was canine or feline, was in trouble and Antares was hellbent on saving it. It was most certainly close by, he could smell the blood.
"Holy mother of-" he skidded to a halt, sending pebbles flying. Was that a snake? It was definitely a snake and it was massive. It's body alone was as thick as he was tall. He almost began turning around to run, but then he saw what the snake was after: There was a nest, it looked like it contained a little white chick inside. That must have been what was screeching, or the parents... Where were the parents?
It hit him like a speeding train. The snake killed the parents, who stayed to protect their chick and died fighting for it. Blood and feathers were everywhere and the snake looked like it just ate, judging by the mess around it's snout. "We're--I'm saving that bird. You don't need to help me but I'd sure appreciate it if you tried distracting that monster so I don't get eaten." he streaked towards the nest, not taking a second to wait for an answer. [/style] |

"Doesn't meat have certain vitamins we need to survive?" Kayalee asked, cocking her head to the side. "I don't think it's strange that you eat fruit instead of meat, just different." Kayalee meowed. "Sleep under the trees?" Kayaler mused. "Then... Then where did we come from?" Kayalee wondered, she had no memory of parents and assumed many didn't either. "Did we just appear here?" He wondered, then she heard a terrifying noise. "What the...?" She hissed, shocked Kayalee was to startled to notice that Antares had started running. She pelted after, only catching up because her strides were slightly longer than his. She skidded to a halt when he stopped, almost barreling into him. There was this snake, it was ten times larger than the one that had bitten River. She gasped, there was also a few dead birds and a small white chick screeching as the snake looked at it hungrily. Sh obeyed Antares's command and leaped at the snake and bit it on the tail, causing it to spin its head around and bare its poison fangs in her direction. She launched at its middle and bit hard, nearly snapping the creature in half. It writhed and almost grazed her with its fangs. She was quicker than it was and she lased out and bit it right behind its head. She tossed its dead body to he side and looke over Antares's shoulder, her ears flat back on her head. "Is... Is is OK?" He asked, panting from the strain of the fight with the giant snake.

Well those seem to have the same nutritional qualities. They even taste similar." the feline shrugged. "I'm glad you don't think I'm insane." he chuckled, she was one of a select few that didn't look at him funny for not eating meat.
"You see, some of the pods don't have parents. The trees make them on their own, as I've observed at least. I assume we were made the same way." he mumbled confidently, he spent a lot of time at the Orchard observing the trees. There was so much he didn't know about them that he wanted to know but would probably never learn.
Antares got to the nest with amazing speed, it looked like the snake was done for, Kayalee snapped it in half. He looked down on the little chick, who was still terrified and screeching, but now at him. His perked at the female's comment, "Well aside from being terrified and lacking parents I suppose so. I'm not exactly sure what I can do now, it's parents are dead and it's too small to survive on its own... I'm going to take it with us and try to raise it myself." he sat softly on the ground, and pulled another brown fruit out of his pouch. He cut a thin strip off of it with his claw and offered it to the chick, as a way to show he's not there to hurt it. To his surprise, it stopped its screeching and took the fruit. "See? I'm not going to hurt you. But you're going to have to get on my back if you want more you have to get on me." the feline knew the bird wasn't going to understand him, but it saw the strips of fruit he laid on his pouch, which was on his back again, and hopped onto his shoulders to get at the fruit.
"Well I guess that does it, I don't think it's going anywhere." the feline rose to his feet carefully and turned to Kayalee. "We should probably try to get out of this place, I can guarantee you there's snakes a lot bigger than that one, I've seen a few massive snake skins while we were here, it's making me uneasy.

"I've never imagined a fruit that was so like meat, it's so interesting." Kayalee meowed, cocking her head to the side. "I'm not one to judge." Kayalee meowed with a chuckle. "I wonder how the trees can make us themselves... I remember when I was born... There was no one else around... I wonder if I was the first..." Kayalee meowed half to herself.
Kayalee lowered her head and sniffed at the chick, it didn't smell like snake venom, but she had to be sure it was alright. "You're the second of anyone I know to choose to adopt a creature... Ebony rescued a young rat a few days ago." Kayalee meowed, watching the large bird hop into Antares's shoulder. She looked down at the nest and saw the dead body of a stunning black raven. "These birds are amazing indeed, that black one is gorgeous." Kayalee purred. "I agree, I don't want to get bitten, or want you to get bitten by one of these monsters." Kayalee meowed with the hint of a growl in her voice.
